All the programs in the start menu are in folders?

I fairly recently got a gaming PC and I have it all setup and it is running well but the only problem I'm having is that the programs I downloaded that appear in the start menu are almost all in folders. It is a minor issue but it is getting annoying since I have to click the folder and then the program in the folder to launch it. There is no way to just drag the programs out on the start menu and I haven't had any luck with things I've tried in the library. Any ideas?

That was a function of how you installed them.
Or rather, how you allowed the default setting to install them.

Many install routines will create something like:
/MyCompany/TheApplication.exe
and use that as the shortcut. That's what appears in your start menu.

You can find the actual exe and make a shortcut directly that, and put that shortcut whever.

Sorry for the late response, but any idea how to fix this on the start menu? The shortcut works for the desktop but as far as I know doesn't fix the start menu.

What's in the Start menu is how it was installed.
/CompanyFolder/Whatever.exe

Windows has been doing that since the beginning. It was the same way in DOS. Take my Lucas Arts folder in the Start menu. I've got 4 separate games in Lucas Arts, and there's multiple exes for each game, depending on if I want to go into mods or game launcher or setup menu etc. If all those exes were not in a folder, you'd never find just what you were looking for since the start menu is alphabetical, and exes can and do have the same name 'launcher.exe' or 'options.exe' or 'menu.exe' etc.

What you can do is 2 things, right click on the exe and there's a listing to 'pin to start menu' or you can create a desktop shortcut and drag it to the start menu

I tried both but neither seem to fix my problem. I am realizing I should have been more specific to say that the folders I am referring to are in the apps list and not the rest of the start menu, and your tips only seemed to work for the start menu itself and not the app list which still has folders and I cannot delete them. Any ideas?
