All these 6800U Benchies are making me sad

Since i already currently have an Socket 754 Athlon64 system, I'm planning to stick with 'til the AMD releases the 4000+ next year for socket 939. At 2.6Ghz, with water i'm sure i can reach 3.0Ghz, since it'll be on the 90nm process. Oh man my dream finally realized, AMD at 3.0Ghz without expensive prometeia.

You should be ok, 754 is topping out at what, 3800+ A64?
Besides, AMD made a crapload of wise moves... one being 754 becoming the "Duron/XP" line. You wont have a completely useless mobo for a long long time.

IIRC, they are exactly the same as the A64 but will have less cache (256k I believe) and no 64bit.
They might and probably will outperform whatever you have in there currently once they start ramping those high.. I dont know.. but something to think about as well.

Either way, with what you have now or going with a very high clocked 754 Athlon XP you're sitting pretty nicely already.
If I was you, I'd honestly get a AGP 6800Ultra or AGP X800, whichever you prefer and forget upgrading your mainboard for quite a long time (as long as possible). Unless you have uses for multiple systems or are willing to sell off your stuff of course.

I can't complain too much, I tend to budget in these expenses and just have more trouble justifying spending more money on computer parts than some other pursuit. Heck my computer 'could' last at least another year before becoming unuseable, but why not get something new!?! :evil:

Thankfully I don't shop at FutureShop or Buy pre-fab PCs. OTherwise I'd be getting the equal of my computer right now, for 50% more. So I guess I can justify it that way. :lol:

Yeah i'm not spoiled, at least i don't think so, most of the time i get a chance to sell my old system, then i get a new one from distributor for fairly cheap. I wish this cycle could keep going, but one day all my friends are gonna have decent comp, then i'm SCREWED! SCREWED i tell ya.

Hey I LOVE futureshop, well as long as they have that 30 days return policy. When there's something i want, i don't want to be a pain to the distributor, so i go to futureshop, buy it, try it, see if i like it or not.

A. I like it: then i return it and order it from my distributor.

B. I hate it: then i return it and buy something else from them, and see if i like it.

Well you see there's an advantage of being 16 and still live with your parents, my parents pays for my car, so that's a big chunk off. And with my about $500/month, I could save 300 of it every month for the next comp i want, and the rest, nothing really to do, occasionally see a movie,(never rent movies/games that's what piracy's for), and very few multiplayer games(no single player games, that's what edonkey's for). And occasionally buy my girlfriend some gift to keep her happy.

Yeah wait 'til you leave the warmth of the womb, then you start thinking in terms of clothing, beer money, nights out , trips, taxes, and a ton of other crap that really takes the joy out of buying things. And the GFs will always be the biggest expense on anyone's budget, that's one thing that will never change. Well until you have kids of course, but I'm not there yet! 😱

There's a fun side of moving out, without your parents b*tching at you, but the responsibility side becomes the b*tch when moving out.

Damn life sucks, okay, time to buy a sawed off shotgun and shoot myself in the head, hopefully there's no pain. But it'll be a pain in the a*s for whoever's doing the cleanup.
