Well it suites very well to $600 segment. It has 512bit memory controller, that is very prisey, so even $650 would be nice price for this item. This is the first real 8800 GTX successor, if those specks are true!

I might be able to afford $500 for a new card, but since I live in Canada, I can expect that to be $800CAD... So I would need a card priced at around $300 to replace my aging 8800GTS 320mb

8800GTS OC 512MB. You can pick it up on sale at Future Shop for usually less than $299CDN. Got myself one, love it death.

To give you an example, you can get the same 8800GTS 512 as the above poster (overclocked edition from EVGA) for CDN$239 w rebate, as opposed to 300ish like in most places. If it goes for 500USD, they'll probably have it for CDN$520-550
