Alt tabbing taking longer with new monitor

Hi! So I just bought a new 144hz monitor, and whenever I go to alt tab, it is significantly a longer wait time (about 3 seconds) until it shows the alt tab. In the meantime, the screen just goes black. When I used to use my laptops display I had no problem. Note: This only happens in some games, but I believe the games it doesnt happen in play in fullscreen windowed (in those games it has no option to enable fullscreen over fs windowed) What could be the issue?

Your computer could be lagging because it is being worked harder.
Is your new monitor a higher resolution than your old one (Seems more likely than refresh rate)?
What CPU/GPU/RAM do you have? Look at their utilization % when you encounter the slowdown to see if that narrows it down. You may be overusing RAM, or GPU memory in particular.

You can also set your new monitor to run at 60Hz through windows and see if that changes anything, but I suspect it won't.

The resolution is the same, just the only difference would be the size (obviously laptop to a monitor)
Its a i5 7300HQ GTX 1050 8GB (msi gl62m 7rd)
Running it at 60hz did not change anything
