Well, my old mouse pad is wearing out, thanks to a good 4 years of use. I recently stumbled upon a MSI Aluminum mouse pad that caught my eye :

I was wondering if anyone had any experience with similar mouse pads? I mostly play FPS games, and am currently using the Steelseries Rival 600. Am I better off with just good old soft and traditional mouse pads, or are these actually nice? I've heard really good things about them so far, but doesn't that hard surface cause a mouse to be more vulnerable to scratches from underneath? Or am I just overthinking this?

Solution
Had one a few years back. A Mionix Ensis 320 I believe. They can be great for tracking and very smooth. Still, wouldn't say it's all that much different than my logitech G440 I'm using now. However, they will eat away at mouse feet over time. Had a glass mousepad before that, and had same issue.

Ah, I see. Apparently the packaging includes a "Teflon Adhesive Tape" that you're recommended to put on mouse feet. Never used anything like that on a mouse before, any idea if it would help in this case?
