Attempting to address the threat. Downloaded "defender offline" as per instructions. Cannot get it on a blank CD and cannot get it on a bootable CD. Microsoft support on this has been less than effective. Guidance sought

Hi,

Who told you to do that ?

first you should run tdsskiller form kapersky

when clean install and run malware bytes

if problems persist try combofix. (warning, this could make windows not boot anymore)

if all went well you have to fix boot record (here's a nice page that will help you http://peterhallam.com.au/dos-alureon-a/)

If this didn't do the trick

go to http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/

and seek help there as their are chance you will not be able to recover from infection and then windows reinstall is the only option

Appreciative of your timely reply. The problem is that I have created a bootable CD but I cannot get either the AVG rescue disk or the Windows defender Offline rescue on the disc. Every thing I've read has major holes in the documentation so that I can get moving on a remedy.
