My plan is to move my ram, GPU and hard drive over to a new case due to my GPU running at 83 c all the time from my alien ware x51 r2 case. So i was wondering if i could go buy a new motherboard with the same socket as my i7 4770 and put it in that mother board or would i need to go buy a whole new CPU?

If your current motherboard is a standard ATX or mATX then you can swap the mobo as well, if not there will be a few issues.

First if you get a new motherboard then you will have to rebuy a license for Windows, since OEM version are stuck to the mobo that came with your computer.

Secondly if you change to a different motherboard with the same socket you will also have to reinstall windows to avoid conflicts.

Also one more question the only things i would need to buy is a power supply cpu cooler and case correct?
