So I recently upgraded to ryzen 2600 and Ihave very old you, 660ti (yes big bottleneck ik) and was working fine for about a month, today I'm playing rust and my PC just shuts off, so I give it a second and when I go to turn it on again, shuts right back off instantly. So I let it sit and now no reaction to power button. But if I switch PSU off then on it would start for a second. So I did that about three times and then holy Jesus the Sparks flying out of GPU. So I shut it all down and remove it, smelled awful. Obviously the card is toast but what are the odds rest of PC is okay. It turns on now with GPU removed but with no on board I can't tell what's going on. High probability the pcie slot is fried? And what do you think caused this.

Solution
My bet would be the PSU. What kinda power supply did you had and how old is it?
If some no-name low-grade then I double my bet on the PSU. Quality PSUs have short circuit protection in them to prevent accidents like this happening.

Yeah the rgb on the Mobo is still working so hopefully that's not fried
