Am I missing something?

Hey all,
Been building my new PC since this morning and I came across an issue.

When I try to hook up the 8-pin CPU Power supply to the Motherboard I noticed the shapes did not match. There were no other cables. Am I blind or missing something?

That PSU is modular. Look in the bag with came with the PSU. There should be a mobo power and mobo cpu power connectors in there.

The Mobo 24 Pin power is hooked up already. Does that mean I don't need the 8 pin?

did you mixed the two end of the cpu power cord?

That 8 pin is most likely CPU power. Look on the mobo, it will be marked.

Yes, but they are not matching.
There are squared tips and curved tips.

One 4 pin is 2 squares/ 2 curved.
One 4 pin is 4 Curved.

The MB shows 2 Squared connections for both sides.

Then look in your psu bag for the correct connector. There is normally one that actually states CPU power or ATX on it.

could be a manufacture defects, you can bring it to store or rma it. the right piece of the cpu cable looks wrong.

[edit], actually i found a few cpu cable has that shape, have you tried to plug in the cables? i think the cable even thou as a difference shape should still go in.

Yes we understand. As I stated check your PSU bag. If you are missing the cable you will have to order another one or return your unit.

It shows what type of cable you need clearly in the manual I linked earlier.

I'm looking at 2.1.5.
Picture A is hooked up.
Picture B shows either a full 8-pin or a 4-pin solo hook up.

So can I fit the side that matches one 4-pin and let the other just dangle?

i have searched quick a lot, i think its compatible and you can use it without worrying too much.
just plug the 8 pin in and it will work.

hexagon can go into square but square can't go into hexagon, also hexagon are directional.

i think the reason for the right half having 4 hexgon having the ability to use either 2x2 pin for a 2x2 only cpu power socket.

the cpu cable (the pattern) from evga is done on purpose.
your cable should connects to your mobo without issue
carry on and enjoy your build.

Is the 6 pin on the left actually required? Its a 1080ti. ty

yes.it is required.

you need the 6pin AND 8pin to run the 1080ti. otherwise, the card built-in power check will stop the card from running.

Thank you. I had a single 6+2 pin connector attached first. Then I saw the one with the Splitter (One in Pic) and it seems much easier than plugging in 2 seperate cables into the PSU.

Spent 8 hrs so far and have not started it up yet. I'm scared something isn't going to work. lol

I'll do it after Dinner.
