I cannot use mouse and keyboard to play any games apart from strategy, turn based games, Thank god for DS4 windows, so i can plug in my controller, its no use playing multiplayer online tho, you just get served up and i agree keyboard and mouse is better, i just cant drop the controller.
Am i scum?
i wish they'd be some allowance for controller users especially with snipers. I still game with my PS4 and only play BF1 on it, i wait for steam summer sales to get games and hope civ6 is on there.
I have an OP machine for what i do on it, am thinking of selling it, to get AMD ryzen n do some ps4 streaming live with the elgato hd60 and render using Sony vegas,
current system
7700k
gtx 1080
2x16gb 3200 trident z cas 14
m.2 256 samsung evo, sata 6 samsung 1tb evo,
win 10
asus rog swift 1080p g sych 180hz (OC)

i could sell the lot n get a Ryzen 1700x, msi titanium x370, etc but for the card, shall i just get a quadro or firepro? would it help with rendering? or wait for vega cards?

No, you're not scum for using it. I used to be on the same boat as I transitioned from console to PC, getting so much prejudice for using a controller for FPS, especially TF2. I tried arguing that it's about preferences with those on YouTube but no one would listen.

I got so sick of it that I decided to try M/K. It was hard at first (as I was so used to controller) but I then got the hang of it. I realized that the M/K definitely has the advantage in FPS and the shooter genre but it also has its disadvantage for other genres. I mostly play with M/K now but there are times I use a controller for games such as GTA V (for driving), Gang Beasts (good for 4 players), Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm series (good for 2 players), Dark Souls (it's...
Scum for using a controller for PC gaming?, hardly as most gamers I know rock a K/M, joystick & controller. Most games I use a 360 controller and for other games like BF4 I use both, K/M for soldier/helicopter/ground vehicles and then I use my controller for planes.

As far as selling your system and getting Ryzen it seems more like a side-grade instead of a upgrade.

you may want to break this thread up into two posts. one in the /systems/ asking for upgrade information and this one here asking on opinions regarding controller usage.

controllers are not as accurate of a choice for pc gaming. mouse has always been the superior choice when accuracy is concerned. to make controllers better would require auto-aiming which is honestly "cheating" and which is why controller users (console) are normally seperated from pc users (m+kb). the trouble really lies in balancing the two inputs without giving advantage to one or the other and that honestly is not an easy thing to do.

are you scum for liking controller? no. your choice of interface is a preference. you are well aware that such choices however could mean disadvantage.

i myself take my choice between keyboard+mouse, gamepad+mouse and controller+keyboard depending on the game. generally i prefer mouse input for everything but some action rpg style games. my own choice of arrow key cluster based movement over wasd also can be limiting in some games without good keybinding but it is my own preference and something i have to deal with.

Your current specs is for only gaming and general purpose but since you're going into streaming and video editing, I suggest getting an X99 board and either Ryzen or i7 6800k - 6950X. As for your GPU, you can keep the one you currently have or go for the 1080 Ti. There's no need for going with Quadro or Firepro as those aren't for streaming.

Thanks, for the answers from all, i will go for an Intel 6800k and X99 Mobo, i like the idea of Ryzen, i just have always had Intel, and everything has always worked. I know a local PC shop and ask them to flash the mobo if needed, and get like 4x16gb ram and maybe get a GTX 1080ti, and add another monitor IPS.at 1080p. Thanks for making me feel im not trash for using a controller. I will still use it, i just find flying helicopters and tanks in arma 3 so much easier with a yoke stick(analog) for piloting. I can go from this and sell my PC but get Samsung PRO storage, as i like the 10 year warranty, and WD Gold 2x4tb in raid 1 in a synology raid box.

Thanks,
