Hello guys,

Im not sure if I'm using AHCI mode by default, but some users reported that AHCI is far superior to the IDE version and I'm wondering what am I using?

Some users also mentioned that it can be viewed through Device Manager, but I don't know if this is AHCI or IDE, since it only says SATA.

Thanks for your help in advance!

What's your system specs?

Booting to bios and looking for sata controller configuration will soon tell you if it's in ahci or ide mode.

Changing modes also requires an Windows reinstall.

Thanks for the reply.

I have Lenovo Legion y540 laptop (i7 9750h, gtx 1660ti, 16gb ram, 256gb samsung ssd and 1 tb western digital hdd)

Is there any other way besides booting into BIOS for that information to be checked?

EDIT:

Whoops, I think I'm running AHCI, didn't see this one in Device Manager! :x
