AM3 Cpu on an AM2+ Motherboard

I have a Gigabyte ga-m56s-s3 motherboard,with the latest (F6H) BIOS installed on it,i was looking to upgrade my cpu,currently i have a AMD Athlon 7750 Dual core ,and i am looking to change it for a AMD Phenom II X4 955,My motherboard support says that it can be used on the F6H BIOS update,but i am not really sure,so i just thought of asking here for someone's opinion.

Just be very sure that it is the Phenom II X4 955 C3-stepping and 95W chip.
There are 2 others listed, both of which are 125W chips which will not work on that board.

Other than that, I don't see any reason for it not to work.
