Am4 cooling bracket won’t fit?

My cooling brackets on my am4 motherboard don’t actually feel like they will stay in place after or while mounting cooler. Just in case you’re wondering, I’m using masterliquid ml240l rgb cooling

yeah i have those exact brackets, but they dont stay in the mobo, so if i try to mount to cooler itself it wont stay on, and very easily pulls them out, so the cooler doesn't stay on the cpu and cant cool it.

Are those square openings in screws hooking up to plastic hooks on the base ? Same ones are on my Nepton 140XL and they hold very tight.

I dont have any plastic parts coming from my mobo, its just like holes in the board itself, and the screws cant hook into it at all.

Which MB is that ? As far as I know all have a back plate and 2 plastic cooler holders on top. You need that part to hook up CM cooler to.

I dont know my exact mobo but i do know that it's a B450M-A, the brackets mustve been there before for the stock cooler though

Ah, I think I can see where the problem is. Depending on which Ryzen it is, it's cooler may be the one that screw directly to MB thru those 4 holes. like with R5 1400 processor. Others use those plastic parts to hook the cooler same way as with FX processors and before.

It’s an r5 2600 with the wraith spire. It might have screwed directly in the mobo, but it no longer goes into it for some reason

But I purchased a cooler that uses the clip on method for mounting

That's what most probably happened, plastic parts have to be removed for direct cooler mount. Now it looks like you need those.
