So I overheard that some motherboards have m.2 slots on the back of the board for easier access. I have a case that has a hole in the back for this purpose it seems. I'm wondering what AM4/PCIe4.0 compatible boards have this connectivity feature since I'm having trouble tracking one down. Any help is appreciated

Please pass on the make and model of your case, so you're not misinterpreting what you're looking at on your case. Also, m-itx boards are the only one's with an M.2 slot on the back since space is a premium and the only place to put a secondary M.2 slot is on the back of the motherboard.

m-itx are the only ones i have seen with them on the back as well.

don't confuse being able to open the back side panel as being able to access the back of the mobo. remember the mobo attaches to a tray itself that usually only has a hole for access to the cpu cooler mount.

as asked above, please tell us what case you have so we can check out what you are looking at so you're not spending money on something you can't use.

I have the musetex mk7 mico-atx case. This is a large square cutout on the side of the case where the motherboard will go

Can you provide a photo of the cutout so we can see exactly what you're talking about? Musetex no longer have MK7 listed on their website it seems.

It sounds like you're talking about the cutout for the standard motherboard I/O panel.

looking at the pic from amazon it looks like the bulk of a mini-itx would be exposed by the hole in the tray. but a micro atx would have a lot of it hidden.

best i could do would be to see where the back m.2 slot is for a mini board and then guess if it would fall within the hole in the tray. should be fairly lucky there though as most mini-itx i have seen the slot it not to far below the cpu which would def be in the right spot.

but again a micro-atx would be a lot more hit or miss if they even made one with a back m.2 slot.
