Hello all, I hope you're having a good day
I just built a new PC, it is running Windows 10 and has an ASUS Prime Z790-A WiFi motherboard with an Intel 2.5 Gb ethernet controller. Last night when I built it, the ethernet was working perfectly fine. I was able to play a few games, download, stream video, no issues.

This morning I turned on the machine and the ethernet was no longer working. Windows said that there was nothing plugged in, and the green light that was next to the ethernet cable on my PC last night was not there.

I tried plugging the cord into my laptop and it worked without issue, so I figured it was a driver issue. I went and uninstalled the drivers via device manager and the green light came back on, but I still couldn't connect. When I reinstalled the drivers from my motherboard manufacturer's website, and then again directly from intel's website, the green light shut off and I have not been able to connect to ethernet, and have been relegated to my relatively very slow WiFi connection.

I think this might be an issue with Windows 10, but do not know what exactly I should do. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

if you don't see the green LED next to the connector on your motherboard ethernet port, then the card is not functioning properly. The green LED is LINK - which means the motherboard and whatever the other end of the ethernet cable is plugged into, is connected and they're communicating.

With everything connected boot the pc and enter the bios I think you should have a green light.

If you don't I doubt it's a windows problem.
