RX 9070 Nitro+ uses 1x 12V-2x6 PCIe connector while Pure uses 2x 8-Pin PCIe.
Is there still reason to be worried about the 1x 12V-2x6 since what happened to nvidia?

The design choice on the Nitro + was to go the 12V-2x6 connector direction due to the aesthetics of the card. The TDP of the GPU is lower than that of what the cards from Nvidia draw. If you study the connector itself, it helps resolve power input onto a small patch of the PCB. The design of the connector is still in question for Nvidia due to the melting connectors(courtesy of the power draw on their high end cards) but the cards AMD have released(at the time of this writing 9070/9070XT) are lower in terms of power draw but on par with the RTX5070.

from a few reviewers comments mainly from HUB and GN have said while the power draw is way lower there is always a chance it will melt ..

I think everyone is really really scared with 12v-2x6 at the moment and with good reason after 4090 and 5090 issues..

personally i would steer clear of it BUT is it a huge issue like the 5090 .. NO

But i can safely say if any connector is not connected properly there are risks ..

I slightly melted my 2x8 connector on my 7900xtx using the ezy fab right angled connector and HOW ??

I simply failed to push the connector all the way in after a rebuild ..

Playing nightingale was on my mobile in front of my computer and next minute looked at pc and fire 🙁

Luck has it as its not done much damage and i can still push the 2x8 pcie plug 99% of the way in and its working fine and not over heating so its all good but could have been alot worse..
