I currently have an PC with Ryzen 7 2700, B450 mobo, GTX 1060.
I am thinking whether it is worth going for completely new AM5 build or upgrading current one, given that my goal is to have stable 144fps for games like Apex Legends, Call of Duty, Fragpunk etc all on low.
Since I don't plan to upgrade my 144hz monitor any time soon, I wonder if it is a reasonable financial decision to purchase new AM5 PC build or get something like 5700x3d with RTX 3070/4060 and forget about new build for another year or two.

What would you advise both from technological and financial (bucks per efficiency) point of view?
My budget would be around 800USD.

Current specs:
AMD Ryzen 7 2700 (stock cooler)
Gigabyte GTX 1060 6Gb
ASUS TUF B450M-PRO GAMING
Kingston HyperX FURY Black 8Gbx2 , 3200 MHz, 16(CL)-18-18-32
Zalman 600W
144Hz MAG241C screen

What's your budget, what country are you located and what is your monitor resolution?

Around 800USD, Montenegro, 144Hz MAG241C screen.
I would upgrade to a Ryzen 5 5600 (non X) and 32GB of DDR4-3200 CL16 for starters.

Games are limited by the cpu or the gpu.
Try this simple test:
Reduce your resolution and quality settings.
This reduces the work the gpu needs to do. Play YOUR games.
If performance improves much. you can use a stronger gpu.
your 600w psu may limit what you can do.
OTOH, if performance does nor change much, uprgrade the cpu.
A 5000 series processor would be easy

I would say a regular 5700x, a better PSU, and then a GPU to fit your budget. Something maybe like this. GPU pricing is pretty terrible right now.

Thank you all for suggestions and responses.
Now I do understand, that there are options to prolong my AM4 build for at least a year.

On the other note, would it be worth it getting AM5 fresh PC if I would bump up budget to 1300-1500USD?

The graphic card market is totally disgusting now, if you want a GPU upgrade then wait a month or even longer.
Switching to 5600 would let your mood flying to the moon, you'll find everything significantly faster than before.
