I like your scores...As I earlier posted, my CPU is the phenom II x2 550 BE. I unlocked the locked cores and now it's a phenom II X4 B50 (BE, I guess)...My CPU is 3.1 stock speed and I haven't under-clocked it.
I tested mine out on stock and OCd speeds. Stock speed is 4730, 3.2 is 4824, 3.4 is 5084, and 3.6 is 5346.
It seems as though my "home-made quad" is performing just as well as a real quad... :) Now I'm really happy, I only paid $102.99 for an around $175 performance...Thanks for your info and scores...Although I want to see some scores for the 940 and 955...Anyway, Thanx...

Looks like you ended up with a sweet deal!
Yeah, I have been impressed with my rig for what was a budget build.
I carried over everything including the 8800GTS from a previous build, bought the Gigabyte board, the 920, and 4 gig of memory from Frys earlier this year for just under $300 bills.
One of these days when I have time to tinker, I'll see if I can get it to 3.2 or maybe even 3.4.

Yeah, I did a similar thing with mine...I bought everything except the hard drive, DVD drive, and OS...ended up building it for only $400 with the rebates...Good luck with overclocking and stuff, and thanks for your info...

This is a run with a 940 & an OC'ed EVGA 260 55nm

I started this set-up back in September with a 5400 BE & a 9800 GT

I love your setup. I wish I could OC my CPU to 3.8, but I'm running on stock cooler and I could only get 3.6 stable. I need to upgrade my cooler...thanks for your reply...If possible, could you clock your CPU to 3.6 and test it...I would appreciate it...thanx.

Phenom II 955 @3690mhz
asus m3a34-mvp deluxe wifi
4 gig gskill 800
asus eah 4878 1gb dk, x2 in crossfire. 835 freq, 980 mem
3D Mark 06 scores

SM2.0 7727
SM3.0 9988
CPU 5454
Total 20248

I know that the system can do better with further tweaking. I run the system at this cpu setting as a daily driver kind of thing. I have had the cpu to 3.9+ghz. I think that a mobo with a sb750 would get higher scores. I have looked in to water cooling for the GPUs, though still on air.

Thanks for the scores...but do you have stock speed scores? (I'm interested in the CPU score mostly)
I would really appreciate it...thanks

Yeah Im sorry I dont have a good copy of 3DMARK06. The only one I have is the free version. My gamer does not acess the internet so all the 06 benchmarks I did on it yesterday were meaningless. Vantage is one haeck of a benchmark suite get it and see what you can achieve. Im going to try to hit 3.8-4.0Ghz tonight. This should be rather fun.

yeah I'm planning to get Vantage and test it out on windows 7...how hot does your processor get on 3.6? Anyway, good luck on overclocking even higher...

Still haven't tried to unlock i c...But that's a really nice score...Although I got a 15730 on my 4850 overclocked to 700Mhz GPU and 1200Mhz memory. And your 4890 is overclocked?!?! (CPU doesn't effect the overall score that much) Still, I think it's a nice score...

This is before the lapping I just gave the 940, It had a serious crown, dips all the way around and high edges. I Oced a little too much last night and corrupted my file system. Im going with Win7 RC1 now. Im going to check out new temps tomorrow, after RC1 install. I forgot to mention that temp was on Thermal Take Big Water cooler which sucked. New temps will be using a Thermal Take Spin-Q. The High temp in the shot was @ full load.

Ugh...I got the same problem with vantage that you did with 06...My gaming PC is not hooked up to the internet so I can't view the scores... :(

This thread got me going a bit so I thought that I would give it another try.

I am able to boot into windows at close to 4GHZ but I couldn't get the system to complete the benchmark at over 3.9ghz. The cpu is running at over 3.9 now, it will complete benches in everest just not 3dmark06. Maybe a little more tweeking. I do think that a AM3 MB and DDR3 ram would help with the scores as I'm sure that running an AM3 cpu on a AM2+ MB with DDR2 800 ram is some type of compromise.

To answer the question about a score with just one GPU I think that it was around 17.5k.

Actually, in 06 (I'm not as sure about Vantage), the CPU has a massive effect on overall score. Here's an example:

My setup, stock clocks on everything (3.33GHz i7 (3.33 because of Turbo, 3.2 rated), Sapphire 4870x2 CFX @ 750/900):

My setup, stock clocked GPUs, CPU OC @ 4.2GHz:

I like your scores...My CPU score at 3.2 is 4849, at 3.4 is 5084, and at 3.6 is 5346. When it's at 3.6, it's not even stable all the way (Only stable enough to benchmark)...I guess that's the drawback of unlocking...But at 3.4 it runs rock solid...haven't even tried to run it at 3.5...Anyway, thanks for your scores...

Very nice scores and rig. As for the scores on the 4890 i'm pretty sure it's just a bottleneck issue on the CPU side as the higher i go with the CPU the better the GPU score. But that's a given as the idea of overclocking your CPU. But i'm seeing higher scores with the 4890 on other CPU's and system benchmarks. I can not push my CPU any higher and unlocking the other two cores has not been a success on my system as i need to lower the multiplier below the stock setting to get them to unlock. And then i can't even reach the stock speed of the CPU as it was with the other two cores locked. So no go there. I guess i'm stuck at this point. I'll start working on the other two rigs and see where they go.
