Amazon firestick and power consumption

A quick question about the Amazon firestick. I have recently plugged a TV into a Tapo smart plug with power monitoring capabilities. I noticed that when watching live TV from the aerial, the TV consumes about 57 Watts. However when I switch to the firestick, the power consumption increases to about 95 Watts.

Just curious as to why this happens. The firestick is plugged into the TVs HDMI and into a separate socket for its power (I.e. not through the tapo device)

Anyone any ideas, like I said, just curious

Interesting. The Firestick plus into a 5V connector. I see various posts indicating about 2W on standby, 3-5W when viewing and up to a max of just less than an amp.

Perhaps your TV documentation could shed light on it?

Is there a difference in resolution between the two where the Firestick is displaying a higher one?

The tv is about 20 years old, I will see if I can find a manual for it tomorrow. Ive tried raising the resolution on the TV (viewing hd transmissions)and reducing the resolution on the firestick, neither makes any difference. However, this is where it gets even stranger, plugging the firestick into the hdmi2/dvi port on the TV gives a power consumption of around 78 Watts. Going to dig out a blu ray player tomorrow and see what that does.

Just for the record: one of these models?

TV and firestick: separate sockets - same outlet?
It's actually one of these - I'm in the UK

Yes, the firestick and tv are on separate outlets
