There are 2 main ways to OC, in Windows or BIOS (maybe there's something in Linux, but idctk). BIOS is the better way, why? Because BIOS is spelled with all capital letters. I would read the manual and see what it says about overclocking inside the BIOS. If you hate your BIOS, or just don't like hitting the delete key during boot, go to www.cpuid.org. From there, download ClockGen. ClockGen lets you overclock but it won't save changes to BIOS (you can make a file that overclocks on startup though). Or, if you have a select motherboard, some mobo manufacturers like to make programs that you can OC with, such as the AI Booster w/ ASUS. Check your manual and your mobo manufacturers website for OCing tools, or go to www.CPUID.org and get ClockGen. Happy OCing!

i think it's best for you to read some overclock stickies before posting overclocking questions. actually i'm also pretty new to oc myself, i also have a venice 3200+ E3 revision. i was able to oc it to 2.4ghz with stock voltages. i think you could hit in that range easy. just a reference for you to see,
ht 240x 10 = 2.4ghz
ht 240x 4 = 960htt
ram divider 166, ht 240 * 5 /6 = 200mhz
all voltages stock.
load temp increased from 37c to 43c.

Just out of curiosity, do you need extra cooling when you OC. I have an AMD 3200+ myself and im' also interested in OC'ing.

when u overclock with a 3200+ wich i have

i used stock cooling and my CPU is running at 2.4Ghz good temps 30-40c

first i had to raise the Voltage to round 1.45v

then i had to lower my Ram to 333 <-- DDR 2700 speeds

and when i was done , the Ram was Raised to 400 with the overclock


so far its stable and runs cool

so far its stable and runs cool

this is almost exactly for my setup, same temp, same clock speed. same ram speed. everything else at default(voltage).

Did you have to lower your HTT multiplier?

u know what i put it at Auto, i think its at 5x

but the cpu mulitiplier is at 10x
