amd 690 and drm

Ive been told that the amd chipset( andpretty much evry chipset from this point on fom intel and amd) will have drm installed. Im not clear whetther that means i cant backup my dvds or cannot ouput to a lcd. Anyone know what this is about?

thought drm ment that you wont be able to veiw it at true HD quality if it is pirated or sumthing like that

thaats what i thought, but this guy told me they block you from copying(backing up ) dvds, music, etc

DRM hardware dosn't allow for the data to be copied either. it encrypts the data then sends it to the next device which then decrypts the syignal. If you don't have a DRM Compliant system then if you wanna watch a next gen DVD in high def you will not be allowed to, but you will stil be able to copy it just not in the 1080p goodness
