Whenever I play games my AMD 8350fx cpu temp goes up to about 45-50celsius. Is this temperature ok? Will playing at this temperature make my CPU's lifespan decrease? I am currently using a Hyper 212 EVO cooler because I read some reviews on the CPU and realized the CPU runs relatively hot. Should I be afraid if the temperature is at 50celsius? When should I start worrying?

no. it is a great temperature

50C? this makes me cry. my idles are 40C , goes till 75 while gaming( well the ambient is 35-40 here)

NO. there will not be a lifespan decrease

hot is when it hits 80C +

if you are bored you should consider Overclocking ( but you dont need it with that nice little processor)

So am I cooling it fine? Should I be worried about the CPU's lifespan?

Thank you very much for the answer. I'll consider overclocking but I don't think I'll need it with the 4.0ghz already.

Do you live in a desert?

the tropics (close enough , )just 10 degreees north of the equator .take a guess

the temp is 30 C now , 42 is considered hot while 25 is considered cool 33 is normal. well , if i sit under the airconditioner with the full blow on my laptop, the temps reduce to 55c while gaming

deserts are hotter, wayyyyy hoter

Lol, thanks for the help man I really appreciate it. Do you have an AMD CPU yourself?

I had an FX 8120 clocked to 4GHz but I recently upgraded to a Core i5 4690K.

Why did you switch to Intel? Also, if you dont mind me asking, I'm kind of paranoid about my cpu temps. I get about 30c idle, is this a good temp aswell? Thanks again

it is a good temp.

well many prefer AMD over intel because of the price factor.

Other prefer intel for the performance it delivers. the single core performance of intel is greater than AMDs.

i suggest you look at some benchmarks for comparison

I'm amazed thats how low your amd processor is. AMD runs hot in EVERYTHING they make, at least that's my experience. I mean the 290x gpu runs at 90c normally (yes I know it's a gpu). My Intel 3570k OC to like 4.2 ghz (3.8 stock) runs like 65-70 under load with the 212 evo and good thermal paste.

I would overclock that chip if I were you, seems like you have a good one. You can just manually do it on your motherboard if you have the settings (most do) in the bios and get a nice boost. Plus it's just a blast to tweak with stuff and it's truly easy.

Have fun man!

I used to have AS5, really awesome thermal paste, do you think worth changing my stock TP for this one again?

No, not if you're getting good temps already. Good thermal compound can lower temps a little but it won't work miracles. A better cooler is the way to go if you want better overclocking results.

ok old thread, but i have solved the trend problem with peoples bad temps. They have to turn off turbo on there 8350 and have a really nice system with lots of good fans, i recommend noctua fans fill every spot you can with good fans and your temps wont go that high anymore, mine used to idle at 50 and go to around 65 degrees during a game. then i bought an nh-d14 cpu cooler, and a bunch of noctua fans and filled my case with them. my temps are amazing they never go over 51 degrees at full load using prime95. i even over clocked to 4.5MHZ and it doesnt go over 51degrees. KEEP IN MIND IF YOU INCREASE THE VOLTAGE IT WILL CAUSE MORE HEAT.

VOLTAGE = HEAT

Therefore you can decrease your voltage little by little if needed to decrease your heat.
if im wrong please tell me
