amd 9590 vs 8350

Which MSI 970 motherboard is it exactly ? the reason I ask is the FX9590 is a 220w CPU and very few motherboards can run it, so you may have no choice but to go for the FX8350 which is a 125w CPU and should be supported by most motherboards.

^ Yep, stick with the FX8350.
But, what will you do with the system? Paired with a half decent GPU the FX8350 is still a decent gaming part, but if you're looking to build a home/office/internet system for a friend/relation/child/sibling the FX6300 would do just as well for less money.

There is no performance difference between them at all, they are the same chip. If you run the FX-8350 at the same frequency as the FX-9590 then you have done exactly what AMD did at the factory via binning.

Very few 970 motherboards support the continuous high output, so I agree that your best bet is to go with the FX-8350, assuming the board isn't limited to 95W as well, in which case you would need to get the FX-8370E which doesn't need the 125W of the FX-8350.

Agree with above, but also realize that you may end up spending more on that old, end of life platform, than you would on a new build around a G4560.

Depending on your use case, the G4560 would perform better as well.

My advice: Sell that motherboard and save for a new system and platform if you really need it. Don't invest in the end of life AM3/AM3+ platform.
