Hi guys.

I have a 3 year old system running on an AMD A10-5800K setup for dual-graphics with an HD7750. Recently my system shuts down completely when playing graphic intensive games like Tomb Raider, MGSV, Fallout 4 or Skyrim.

When it first happened, I just updated to the Radeon Crimson drivers which had a bug causing the fans to stop working, so I thought initially that the issue was caused by the driver. I did a rollback but it's still happening. After multiple tries to figure out the issue I decided to disable dual graphics mode and use only the HD7750. My system hasn't shut down after I did that.

Now yesterday I removed the heatsink of my APU and found that the thermal paste is all gone so I replaced it. I decided to try dual-graphics mode again as the non-existent thermal paste might be causing the APU to overheat so I thought applying new thermal paste will resolve it but it shut down again after about 30 minutes of playing Skyrim.

I would appreciate your thoughts on the issue. My PSU is a 500W Aerocool Strike-X bronze rated. Lastly the system only ever shuts down when I'm playing demanding games while on dual graphics, I haven't tried using the APU's on board graphics alone.

afaik crimson driver does not support dual graphic, try check this forum for more info https://community.amd.com/thread/194020. you might have to research about dual graphic support for crimson since the link i give is old thread. for random shutdown most likely your hdd might have virus, i suggest update your antivirus and run full scan, -sorry for my horrible grammar.-

Hi. Thanks for responding. The monitor is connected to the GPU, and the issue only happens in dual graphics mode. (Haven't tried running just the IGP)

Sorry to revive this post but I just want to add some updates on this. Ever since the random shut downs started, I've disabled dual-graphics and only play using my HD7750 and I never had any issues. When No Man's Sky was released, I installed it and played for a couple of hours when my system shut down. FPS while playing NMS was only at an average mid 20s even on low settings. After that, I stopped playing NMS thinking that since it's poorly optimized, it might be what caused my system to shut down.

I went back to playing Skyrim, didn't have any issues for a few days and suddenly to my surprise, my PC shut down last night while playing. I also had uTorrent running on the background while playing which is usually always running when I'm using my PC.

After the crash, I ran MSI Afterburner to monitor my temps while playing Skyrim again, highest temp for GPU was 85 degrees Celsius and CPU was around 80, although it didn't shut down again that time.

Any suggestions on what program I can use to diagnose what's causing this will be greatly appreciated.
