Hi Guys,

I've got some issues with my AMD A10 6800K. When I am playing games with it, it seems that the apu cannot handle the games I am playing (DOTA 1🙁) ) The display flickers.

When I read about benchmarks online, i thought that it was a good cpu. But why does the display flickers.

Please help me, should i buy a discrete gfx card????

Why does it seem like people here have a standard response of "upgrade to better hardware" to most questions, and it's so often a huge exaggeration?

Dota1 is just a Warcraft 3 map, a game from 10 years ago.

Here are the game requirements:

400 MHz Pentium II or equivalent, or a 400 MHz G3 processor or better.
Warcraft III requires 128 MB of RAM.
8MB 3D video card (TNT, i810, Voodoo 3, Rage 128 equivalent or better) with DirectX 8.1 support.

I'm pretty sure the A10 6800k can handle this don't you think?

I would check if the cpu cooler is installed properly, drivers, monitor problems, try a different ram stick from a friend.
wow two reply. this site is very good for asking question. btw. i just solved my bad graphics issue. here is my pc spec
450w power supply included with case (cheap ones)
AMD A10-6800k processor
4GB ram 1600 hyper x kingston
500gb hard disk
msi A85XMA-E35 motherboard
all is RM1200. go convert it to your curreny.

believe it or not i got 2000mb++ graphics on directx test. (the dxdiag thingy). the main problem is i dont install the ccc before this. (got some problems with it). after installing it just now, i can play even dota 2 maxx settings. max resolution. (WITH NO GRAPHICS CARD AT ALL)
:)
AMD the best. worth my money buying it.

LaMuerte.... I had some of the same problems you are experiencing. Come to find out, My graphics setting were on the wrong sets. I had mine on DVI when it should have been set on HDMI. I have 32Gig of 1866Mhz Corsair DDR3 RAM on my motherboard and I thought there was something wrong with the drivers. Couldn't figure it out for the longest time. Even had screen lock ups. I found that Steady Video was causing some of it and I shut it off. I have the embedded as well as a discrete video card and they are interlaced. I found it was the cable form my computer to my monitor. I had it set wrong on the computer. Check your settings to make sure your are on the right setting for your cable attachment in your software.

At least 720p i'd say, I run at 900p, and get playable frames in all my games (except prehaps planetside 2)

This is my first time posting as well.

As far as I know amd apus depend a lot on the memory you have installed as it shares it with the cpu.if you were to buy an 8gb set of 1600mhz it would improve a lot,but you might as well buy a gpu for the future anyway.

If you can get a gpu that can crossfire with the apu that'd even better.hope this helps and good luck!

Well i play warcraft 3 other maps no problem at all. Also i have installed enb series i have A10 6800k BE 4.1. I play too dota 2 in a monitor led 18 res 1366x768 with 8gb 2133mhz memory gskill sniper and A88x motherboard i could handle this games.
Castlevania LOS 2 - Ultra settings
Dota 2 -max
Vindictus - max
pcsx2 emulator and wii with high graphics.
Skyrim - Very high

so few days ago i changed my led 18 for a 23 plug in with an dvi and now i cant run Dota 2 at full xD wtf ? also im playing Kingdom under fire 2 it has graphics from lvl 1 to 6 im playing at 3 not fluid... i make sure to update drives but maybe is a resolution problem.

About your, make sure update all drivers more than that i cant tell.. you should be able to paly warcraft 3 on max

For an APU you really should have 1866 at the minimum. And you should have two sticks so its operating in dual channel. I have an A10-5800K and play the same game without a hitch.

Your APU can handle that game pretty easy.
check if the APU is over heating, if yes, then Change the thermal past or the coolant if needed. Also you should have sufficient memory to play fine.
Cheers

People are giving legit answers to his question. With an APU you should have ram operating in dual channel and you should be using 1866 at the minimum. It makes a world of difference. His APU is running crippled basically. And he would never have known it.

I have the AMD A10-5800K processor on an Asus F2A85V-Pro. Right now I am running a discrete AMD HD7700 GHOST at 1Ghz with 11Mhz clock speed, and both video components were able to be integrated using Lucidlogix Virtual interface to connect both the integrated and the discrete video adaptors. This was deep-sixed when Windows 10 came out. Now I just run the discrete and was having the same flickering problem. I found it had to do with the drivers that AMD was putting out and also the BIOS configurations were not set properly. I had to go into the BIOS, optimize the processor, the DDR3 RAM (Running 32 Gig of PC-15000) and then configure the settings on the graphics accelerator to get the graphics to all quit twitching. Your APU should have the HD-8760 880MHz, which should be very close to my discrete HD-7700. I would check all those areas that I was talking about. Another issue that could also cause your particular is an UNDER-powered PSU. I had to go from a 600 watt regular PSU to 850 watt PSU Bronze edition. I found that I had too much running and 600 watts was not enough. I needed 508 watts sustained, which meant that the system needed a minimum of 508 watts at idle speed, but was peaking at 768 watts when I was doing intense usage. I was exceeding the wattage limit. Caused flickering, system lock-up, and all sorts of other issues. I checked my PSU with an ohm meter and found I was shorting it out. It was running at 11.2 volts, 4.68 colts and 2.68 volts. The standard is 12+ volts, 5+volts, 3.3 volts. Hope this helps with your dilemma.
