its always better to pair memory modules, than to run a single stick. You CAN run a single stick, which will run in single channel mode, but dual channel mode (with 2 sticks) has long been shown to have better performance and modern motherboards are more designed for it. Don't mix different sizes of RAM either, thats never a good thing,in case you the thought happened to run across you. I am sure you know not to,but just saying for good measure. As for your original question,as to whether or not you can run dual gfx with dual sticks or a single stick,I personally dont think it should matter. As for your original question,as to whether or not you can run dual gfx with dual sticks or a single stick,I personally dont think it should matter. To be honest,I dont know for sure,as I dont have dual gfx and already have dual sticks of memory in a dual channel config. At first,I mistakenly set them in the wrong slots at first and had forced it into single channel mode and eventually moved to them to the proper positions and did notice a general performance increase in dual channel mode,as I said, its better. As for Dual Graphics in general,I would advise you to save you cash and get a better, single graphics card. Even in dual gfx,the APU+R7 250 doesn't hold a candle to increasing it to a R9 270. Dual gfx does not double performance. I'd say that even a R7 260x or even a 260 would be better than the dual gfx. At most,it would match the 260 but I bet it wouldn't be as good as the 260x. I could be wrong in that though. I DO know the 270 would blow all of it out of the water and 270's aren't that expensive,I have seen them for as low as ~130 US dollars. If for whatever reason, you cant budget that and you feel you can only afford the 250 with dual gfx, make sure its a DDR3 card,I believe the GDDR5 cards wont work, but I have heard in some places that they can,but I could have just heard rumors. I myself,am saving up for a R9 285,which is a win, lol.
