I've had this issue on a few different occasions in the past, and then out of nowhere it seemed to have fixed itself, but after downloading the 15.9.1 update I'm starting to think its driver related. The last driver I had was 15.7.1 which was work even better after the previous one before it. I was playing Rainbow Six Siege beta yesterday after updating to 15.9.1, and then all of a sudden mid game computer just shuts off. So I sit, and I'm just thinking to myself.... again!? Cycled Power a couple times, and started the computer back up, and for the rest of the day I played it I had no issue. Went back to playing again, and then all of a sudden guess what? It shut down in the heat of the game, and yes its really frustrating. Previously, I thought that this may be related to overheating, but I checked that on multiple occasions, and I almost certain that's not the case anymore. This happened to me before with Dead Space 3, and this was before 15.7.1, but I should mention Dead Space 3 is most certainly not an intensive game, so why is this happening? So it must be driver related. I do like the fact that each driver update brings my Frame rates in games up higher and slightly higher with this chip, which means they are doing some pretty good optimizations on the performance side, but to have an issue like of this kind kinda counter acts the gains. I'm hoping this will no longer occur in future driver updates to come.

Are you playing on windows 10? if you are windows 10 is having an issue where computers would randomly shut off while gaming or watching videos. If that is not the issue for you, then you should check your temps on your GPU card and your cpu to see if its heat related.

Yes I m on Windows 10, so that would explain, but what it won't explain is why my computer won't turn back on. I have been trying for the past few hours to try to get it back on. Unplugging, cycling power by flipping switch, but everytime I hit the power the front fan lights up, begins to spin for a second, then shuts off. What I just decided to do know is unplug it for about an hour, and see what happens.

Do you have two ram sticks in? if so take both out and put in one, make sure its snugged in right, and see if it powers back on. honestly i would downgrade to windows 8.1 or w.e you had before that. when i had windows 10 i had so much problems, i had 16gb of ram and it would only display 15.. now im back on 8.1, no shut downs, and it shows my full ram usage. Windows 10 is not stable enough for my computer.

Yes, I am using Dual Channel memory. I tried take both sticks out and still nothing I get the same response. After over an hour of wait to see what happens the computer still does not power up. Same thing happens, I hit the power switch, fan lights come on, fan spins up for a sec, then shuts off. The odd part is no matter how long I hold down the power switch the computer won't come on, so I have to hit the power switch, but the odd part about it is that when I hit the switch the fan light flick back a second time like it should do on start up. This isn't making any sense because I'm not seeing how Windows 10, or a driver update is going to cause my PSU to just go limp like that, and everything was working just fine yesterday, but wasn't until I installed that broken ass driver update. So the idea that I'm already going to have to replace a part for an only 2 month PC build makes me even more frustrated.

nah windows 10 def didnt blow your computer out, that is another problem i am looking at right now for you. Have you tried taking the Cmos battery out with the switch off in the back and waiting for like a minute, and hold down the power button for 15 sec. when thats done, put your cmos battery back in and try again.

yes while the battery is out hold the power button down for 15 sec with the switch off in the back. Once you're done, put the battery back in, and flip the switch back to the on position and turn the power on

It appears that that has had no effect. I did even try to clear it by shorting the pins. I was reading online that you have to turn the system on, so I tried that when sorting the CMOS pin, and I did get something. The fan on the front stayed on, but I might have made the mistake of turning it off too quick, and I haven't been avle to replicate that again. Yet still no luck.

I decided to try something. What I did was take the RAM out completely, and boot up the computer. Now I now its not going to post, but I wanted to see how it will behave. When I started it up the computers front fans where spinning up and lit up as well, and also I should have mentioned this earlier, but for some reason when I tried turning my PC off with the case power button when the RAM was installed, and wouldn't shut down until I flipped the power switch off. With the RAM out of the case it worked just fine, so I'm guessing my RAM is faulty then, or just because of compatibility issues.

I should have mentioned this earlier, but here are my specs:

AMD A10 7870K
Kingston Hyper X Fury 8GB 1866 Ghz Dual Channel
Evga 500W Power Supply 80 Plus
Gigabyte A88XM-D3H

I've previously knew about the compatibility issue between the RAM and the Mobo because of an overclocking ordeal, but I had found a compromise between RAM and APU's R7 Graphics clock speeds that prevented any crash, or issue with the computer not going into post. So I guess it was a matter of time before I had to give it up, and get a different set of RAM anyways.

just try putting one of your ram in slot 1 or 3 instead of the dual slots. That happened to my computer also, what i did when i got back in was "load default settings" once it was able to boot up. Also for my experience all of the shut downs stopped after i went back to 8,1 i really thought i had a faulty ram also. but like i said try slots one or three and let me know.

So I tested my claim with different RAM, and I still get the same result. So it seems my motherboard is the culprit here like you are saying, and it looks like I'm going to have to phone in for a replacement. I went onto the AMD forums, and some guy said reseat my Video Card, but I don't have a video card, so maybe I can get different results if I reseat my APU, and see if that changes anything? I don't know, I just want to try anything I can before I'm sure I have to replace my motherboard.

well the best bet is to take everything apart, and re-seating everything, if it still doesnt come on, then it could be the motherboard or the PSU. what are all your specs anyway?
