So im trying to upgrade my gaming setup. My current computer was purchased on a tight budget kind of out of an emergency so its not the best. Its an asus with an AMD A4 cpu. I just bought an EVGA geforce gtx 950 the overclocked one. Im not noticing much of a difference from my old gpu which is 4 years old. The games im playing are Diablo 3 and WoW. My question is could this cheap of a cpu be causing me to not see a difference? is it bottlenecking my games? should I upgrade my cpu which would require a new mobo? should i try exchanging the card first? If i upgrade can i go to a AM3+ and not do a complete clean install?

Your CPU is very likely preventing higher framerates, but what GPU did you upgrade from?

You have a socket FM1 motherboard, and it will only accept FM1 CPUs. Here's a list of FM1 CPUs:

Moving from a dual core to a quad core will help a lot, but all FM1 CPUs are still going to be very low-end by today's standards. Whether it's worth spending money on your existing platform or you feel it's a better use of money to replace it all is up to you. The difference between an Athlon II and A6/A8 is that the "A" chips have integrated GPUs, which you're not likely to use anyway, so if an Athlon is cheaper, go for that.

AM3+ will still require a complete reinstall. If you're going to upgrade...

AM3+ will still require a complete reinstall. If you're going to upgrade platforms, the only one that makes sense right now is Intel's socket 1151. AM3+ and FM2+ are both very dead.
