Just a few quick questions on my first build (actually for my friend)

We are building an extreamly budget gaming rig and here were the specs we had in mind

AMD A4-5300 (Dual core 3.4GHz, turbo to 3.6GHz)

MSI FM2 AMD A55 (Hudson D2) *later changed to an ASUS F2A55-M LK PLUS FM2 AMD A55 (Hudson D2)*

4GB DDR3-1866MHz PC3 14900

I recently learned that the A4 only accepts 1600MHz Ram, is that correct? Furthermore I learned that if you pop a 1600MHz ram stick and overclock it to 1866, is that correct? Also, is there any benefit to the RAM stick's lifespan to get an 1866 and "overclock" it to 1866 (because the a4 will only boot the ram sticks at 1600, but appearently will boot with an overclocked 1600mhz stick) Thanks for your responces ahead of time!

No problem. Let me know what you finally decide on. I'd be interested in seeing some benchmarks too.

Sorry for the late reply. This is the final build

A6-5400K (3.6GHz - 3.8GHz)
AMD 7560D (192 cores @ 760MHz)
1x4GB Kingston HyperX DDR3-1866*
ASRock FM2 A55M Micro ATX motherboard
Corsair Builder Series 430W 80 Plus Bronze Certified Power Supply
COUGAR Spike Black MicroATX Mini gaming case w/ 1 120MM Fan
1 250GB 7200RPM HDD
1 120GB 5400RPM HDD
1 160GB 2.5" 5400RPM HDD (we will install this later if he needs more space)

*We could always pop in another stick for $30 more later, right now we are really on a budget though

Total (with tax): $213

I agreed to kick in $20 and my friend is kicking in $15

Total (for him): $178

Now the biggest problem is finding a monitor...

Yeah some benchmarks would be nice... here is my laptop, a10-4600m/7660g (13.1 amd mobile catalyst) benchie on the brand new 3dmark13

Of course this is a laptop so im low voltage but i have an SSD and 8gb of 1.35v cas9 1600mhz ram, stock settings, no overclocking and slightly undervolted the processor.

On your full power desktop you should be able to be pretty dang close to, if not beat me. I hope you can beat me for your sake... im definitely faster than a 360/ps3 running skyrim and battlefield 3 etc., and better quality settings also.

That's a pretty nice laptop, my mom's laptop has the a8-4500M (1.9GHz) and it runs pretty well. I have the Lenovo Y570 with an i7-2670QM (2.2GHz) which is probably a bit better than your 4600M (not by much though). I also have the Geforce GT 555M which again is probably a tad better than yours. Yours probably doesn't spit out fire though. :D :D

Edit: Ill do a benchie on my laptop and post the results, just for fun
