Yes. If you'd look at the link I sent above, you'd see this:

Supports 2 GB, 4 GB, and 8 GB UDIMMs
Supports up to 4 GB on 32-bit systems
Since you state that you have 6GB now, I presume you have 1 x 4GB stick and 1 x 2GB stick. The best you can do is replace the 2GB stick with another 4GB stick of the same as is in the other slot. That will max out the system at 8GB of memory.
You do have a 64bit OS, right?
