I want to build cheap pc for my little brother. I want to get amd a6 7400k 3.9 ghz with AMD Radeon R5 Graphics and 8 gb of ram. Will he be able to play games like cs go, minecraft , terraria, dirty bomb, tf2?

Almost forgot to mention, you might want to look into the Pentium G4560. It offer's ~90% of the performance of the i3 7100 for less than 60% of the cost. Intel i3's are kinda poor value right now, for the most part you're better off either getting a Pentium for a lot less money, or saving up and getting an i5.

The G4560 works with the same motherboards/RAM as the i3-7100.

Do you know which specific i5 model you had in your old PC? Unless it's a pretty old model, you're probably not going too see much if any performance improvement with the i3-7100 (might even perform worse in some cases).
Depends on what R5 card, what resolution the monitor is, and how low he can stand to leave the in-game settings at?
You might want to consider an inexpensive quad core instead of the dual core, tho. More and more games are requiring more than 2 cores. And maybe up the gfx card if funds allow to an R7 or RX-460/GTX 1050

Oh, I see. You are using a GPU you already have. Which r5 is it?
As to the CPU, the A6-7400K is more expensive than the A6-7400 (non-K). He won't be OC'ing , will he. Or... Look for any FM2+ quad core CPU on that site. If you don't find anything that works for you, then the dual core will be OK for those games you listed.

So I have pc with 8 gb ram and dell motherboard. It had intel core i5 wich I will keep to myself 😀. So all I need to do is replace the cpu. I want to spent as low as possible on cpu so he could play above games.

I have dell pc and i want to change the cpu and give it to my brother so he could play games I mentioned. I will build another pc for myself and use intel core i5.

so anyway thanks everyone. I guess I will just give my pc with its cpu 😀 to my brother and build another one for my self.
I have a list of parts I found for my new build, please tell me if they work with each other or anything else I should know, Thanks in advance.

I have power supply 650watt and gpu gtx 950 ti already.

Well, probably. H110 motherboards (such as the one you linked) need a minimum BIOS revision to support 7th get Intel CPUs like the i3-7100. Those BIOSes have been out since October, so I'd hope most new H110 mobos are being shipped with them already installed. But, if not, the 7100 won't work and you wouldn't be able to update the BIOS yourself without a 6th gen CPU. You may be able to contact the retailer to confirm if the motherboard ships with a BIOS that supports Kaby Lake (7th Gen) CPUs.

Well, if you're comfortable contacting the retailer to confirm the BIOS version, I'd say the one you linked is just fine. Especially if you can get it in a physical retail location, you can go to the store and ask, and they may even be able to flash the right BIOS version for you if need be. But if you want one that's guaranteed to work regardless of BIOS version, get a B250 or H270 motherboard.

Thanks so much for this info. I really want to save up as much as possible and still enjoy some what modern games. The one I am currently using is Intel core i5 - 4460. By substituting intel i3 with g4560 and considering the pc parts I am planning to buy, will I be able to run "latest" games smoothly ?

The i3/G4560 are decent gaming CPUs, and offer pretty good performance per dollar (especially the G4560), but they will struggle with some CPU intensive games. I think they'd be a sidegrade at best from your current 4460. If you want to run the latest AAA games with stable FPS, I would aim for something like an i5-7500.

If you're able to wait a couple months, I think AMDs supposed to be releasing their quad core chips in Q2 this year. Based on currently available information they should provide close-ish to Intel i7 (4 cores/8 threads) performance while only costing about as much as Intel is currently charging for their i5s (4 cores/4 threads).

i5 4460 is a better CPU than either i3 or G4560. It's socket 1150 and will only work in 1150 boards. The i3 and Pentium are for the newer socket 1151 and will only work in 1151 boards.

Either of these new CPUs, despite being a bit slower than what you have right now, will run modern games pretty well.
