Hello everyone 😀

I purchased a Hyper 212 Evo a few days ago. It arrived today, and it's been fitted in my computer. I installed AMD OverDrive to see how my temps were doing with this new cooler, and I can't make sense of the "thermal margin". I've read lots about it, and how to figure out what temp the CPU is running at but I literally can't figure it out.

One website I read stated that, to get the temperature, you must subtract the thermal margin from the core temp.
I thought that this can't be right as it'd land me with a CPU temp of 14.3c. (71.3-57), and my BIOS says 30c when booting up.

If anyone could tell me clearly how to work out the temperature using the maximum temperature and the thermal margin (if that's the information you need to calculate it), I'd be very grateful :)

Thermal Margin = Margin between current temp and TJMAX. Bigger # is better.

You can use 3rd party software like HWMonitor or CoreTemp or OCCT to tell you actual estimated temperature. Older versions of AMD Afterburner will also tell you temp instead of margin, but they can be buggy on newer OS' like Windows 8.1 or 10.

Do you mean MSI Afterburner? I didn't know there was an AMD version lol. Also, is a thermal margin of 40c+ good while playing Rocket League and listening to a 1080p YouTube video in Chrome?

Also, I've heard that HWMonitor reports the wrong temps for AMD CPU's because of the way it interprets the result from the sensors
