Question AMD A8 9600 / Ryzen 5 5500GT BIOS problem ?

I just bought a Ryzen 5 5500GT and an AM4 motherboard (which doesn’t have a BIOS flashback feature). The current BIOS doesn’t support my new processor. My old processor is an AMD A8 9600 and if I update the BIOS to a version that supports the 5500GT my A8 9600 will stop working after the update (it won’t boot).

Will my PC boot after I switch to the 5500GT, or do I need to buy a processor that is supported by both BIOS versions?

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

When posting a thread of troubleshooting nature, it's customary to include your full system's specs. Please list the specs to your build like so:
CPU:
CPU cooler:
Motherboard:
Ram:
SSD/HDD:
GPU:
PSU:
Chassis:
OS:
Monitor:
include the age of the PSU apart from it's make and model. BIOS version for your motherboard at this moment of time.

So you merely performed a processor and motherboard upgrade?

Yes, if you update BIOS to proper version it should BOOT with new CPU, that's what update is for, update BIOS , shut off power and change CPU.
You didn't say which MB, so can't recommend BIOS version but go for latest that mentions 5000 series but not not with X3D ones.
