Interesting post. Don't forget we also helped to rebuild France, German and Japan after WWII. After the USSR fell, we helped a lot of the smaller countries stay alive since without the Soviet Union, they were pretty much nothing and worthless.

Every year the US gives out billions upon billions in aid to the rest of the world. Personally I don't give to places that give to outside the US because we need lots of help here. We have homless people, kida and families. If we kept those billions a year and put the back into our economy we would be better off by far.

A lot of countries paly games with the currency like China does. Its sad to see.

And I think that next time a country has a major natural disaster, we should let them handle it themsleves. When Katrina hit we got nothing.

Oh and JDJ, if the UAE goes out then ATIC would be out thus GF would be hit. We can hope not but considering that the world and even US is becoming less dependant on oil than ever and most cars these days have great gas mileage or are hybrid it may take longer to repay than you think.
 


Jeez man, take a break, i was just adding some comic relief, the guy gave a whole life story there and I felt bad for him. Don't get me wrong, i don't pity him or anything like that, i just think he has been through a lot.

I agree on much of what you added to my thoughts and the Katrina examples excellent! We have so much in Coast Guard and Military etc we will always take care of our problems and still help out others, but others could help with BIG MONEY as maintaining our capabilities including OUR medical ships is not FREE!

Lots is happening now on the whole "Green Issue" which is fine of now done slower and more realistically! Now that we now finally know there is no rush lets ONLY change to other fuels when they are more optimized and we know which is best. I still think Hydrogen or Cold Fusion Cells are the long term future not Electricity. In most of the Country we are not like the "Coasts" so Gas from Natural Gas and "dare I say this?" Off Shore Oil is needed to reduce imports forthe Gas we still need! Gas will be around for decades (plus the last built will run another decade or 2 so We need to stop importing the Oil when we have it! (Now you are not agreeing as much I bet! *LOL*)

It drives me nuts with California in the RED so bad and yet they still were held back by the Global Warning and Carbon Scams from making most of what they need from far off shore drilling! Of course I wonder how long it will now be until people actually believe there is no danger? I still recall in HS we were taught an Ice Age might be coming, then we swung all the way to a Warming Scare Scam!

By the way a year ago I researched Warming and Cooling Cycles and found there are many cycles of varying lengths. The shortest is a 40 year Cycle and is from the Sun and Oceans not the Air!!

The last warming cylce was thru 1998 so the current cooling cycle driving the models crazy lasts until 2038 when another 40 years of warming begins. But the 2ns half is the small amount of temperature shifts, in 1998 we peaked at only 1 degree F above the Global long term average! I recall an NBC show about Ocean depths of a 4 degree change and a movie of even more!

(Seriously though IF anyone has a Huge 1991 or older 2 door low milage they want to get rid of PLEASE let me know! The 1991 Caddy 2 door Coupe Deville was the last HUGE 2 DOOR made I've found, I need one of those to be able to fold and pull my wheelchair in behind the drivers seat. My current one is about ready to "croak" and I've not found another like it yet. I have a Van I guess could be modified but it's a Custom 7 passenger with running boards which I'm sure will get in the way. Plus I was saving it for my sons to buy cheap if they move finally move here, and a conversion destroys most of the vehicle. I saw a guy use a mini van with an auto sliding door on driver side, removing one seat and just lifting the wheelchair into that spot, but I own no minivan and assume they still are pretty costly? I'd get any electric car if affordable and big enough, unfortunately those are neither found in electrics.)

Seriously though please ask if have not heard about this even was in a German Magazine recently, as it makes the upcoming conference feel like a bad joke!

I hope the word is spreading about the Global Warming Hoax and the Scams that kept it going wrongly so long will be jailed, especially when Guy Gore was one making 100's of millions off the Carbon Hoax that's part of the Scams!!

If people here do not know what I mean just start Googling for what's going on which began when 1000s of emails were exposed by hackers, although I have a hard time believing the "Global Scientists" actually lostl the real Global Data?

They claim when they were fudging the numbers so much and so often to make warming seem to last longer as the Earth Cooled over the last 11 years that that real data was lost?. I think the real data will be found it will just take a little more work, which never hurt anyone!

What is it with Intel?? I always thought the i7 i5 etc seemed like they reverse engineered AMD CPUs! Intel just agreed to pay a small fortune (in the Billions as I Recall) to AMD for stealing CPU "secrets" ! Now Nvidia and maybe AMD will be suing on the theft of Graphic secrets? I assume it came from Larabee and Intel having to use most of the same conceptual methods since Larabee will be running the same Video Games. Maybe suing the big guy is a way to stay in business if they win, since the Fermi GT300 sounds like will be a total flop. Not only far slower than they projected plus so expensive to make they will have to lose money in order to sell in the Graphic market too.

 
PS: Stupid question and in area being discussed before I joined, but what keeps for example AMD from switching suppliers when they can't ship the volumes needed? Is it tooling time (meaning it would take AMD so much time than to change, they will be rolling out the next 28nm line at another Fab place by then? ) Obviously I was in the design Engrg area not Manufacturing Engrg
 
Im not sure on all the info here, but from what Im getting is, as nVidia and Intel went into agreement with eachother, Intel was to recieve IP from nVidia while nVidia was to has chipset sales on Intel chips.
I guess Intel said no nVidia could no longer make those chips, and nVidia is counter suing, and trying to either keep Intel from the IP usage, or the right to sell chipsets on Intel platforms.
This has alerted the FTC to possible further actions from Intel possibly seen as influencing the market in questionable ways, tied in with AMDs earlier complaints.
I think Ive got it right.
As to perf on either LRB or Fermi in gaming, my monies on Fermi, most definately.
Price/perf? who knows?
 
Currently, the only other fab is Global Founderies, and their 28nm HKMG isnt ready yet, so theyre stuck with TSMC at this node.
Good news is, the 32nm node may be here as early as 2nd qtr next year with GF.
Meaning 28 wont be far behind
 
Only time will tell on the Fermi in gaming, and I'm again lost when they will be showing up finally with all the delays. The delays and rumored delays were so far out in another forum here, that in the discusion about half were assuming Fermi was 28nm
 
Yes I am hearing that the next AMD generation will use GF's 28nm as early as th 3rd Qtr, which would be ideal since volume would be in time for next Christmas. (AMD right now has a desired product for Christmas and few shipping in time.)
 
Well, they simply dont have time for that.
The lessor cards come later, and thats where the real monies made, and delaying til then would be handing ATI a full year of an entire market, thats unless LRB comes in and has sales, which it may, or, if the lawsuit goes forwards, may cause other delays
 
Yes true I laughed at build specs when building, I'd not even have an HD4870X2 except balances out the PCs I build for evaluation. And like said here or someplace I will likely only open and test two HD5970 cards, my own benchmarks with 1 and 2 cards, then likely use the current card again. (By the way calling Amazon saying $649 per card was nuts when I'm waiting weeks helped a bit they dropped the prices on my preorder pnly to $599)

Last build for a Customer was $5990 shipped and I lost money (lots of RMAs etc) he was nuts and had to have everything and more! He even had me put in Raid 0 300GB VelociRaptors, I measured and ran slower than mine with a single drive. His dual Factory OC HD4870X2s were fast but also hot!! I prefer AMD but only because I thing video's sharper smoother but were never faster until now and if Nvidia's had not been delayed who knows?? AMD finally did fix the Crysis problem, the new ones are 2x old series on average but must be 3 times running both Crysis programs.

I take it you're a Nvidia Fan although with all the CPGPUs and other mixtures being made by Intel Nvidia when Fermi out and the 28nm HD6xxx series is to be also although with a far lower percentage CPU (Fermi is supposedly 1B of the 3B transistors devoted to CPU usage.) Larabee and AMD's version after the 28nm RV970 HD6xxx are to be programable, the longterm question is can Nvidia do that as well without a CPU background?

Do most here ebay much? I sell and buy both and 0 feedback seller is selling 2 different Brands at 2 cards per listing, type you diid not bid on until ebay began backing all Sellers' listings (I've gone thru it twice on 975 Extremes, Ebay gives money back if a Seller does not deliver etc) Anyway one of his auctions went for only $730 shipped (odd things happen) so I'll wait to see if get two HD5970s for only $730 although more likely I'll wait another week before can begin process to at least get the money back after 2 or 3 more weeks.
