Well I'm not 100% certain on the performance levels of these CPUs yet but as applications have become more and more threaded, the X6's extra native cores are going to provide that 50% boost in threaded apps where hyperthreading only offers a 40% increase. Really, really, I think that AMD has to come up with their own version of hyperthreading because that's been the big thorn in their side on the high end for the last year or so. I think they'll eventually pull off outperforming Intel. They faced an equally bad situation against nVidia with the HD 2900 XT vs. 8800 GTS and look where ATi is now, regardless of the fact that nVidia is bigger and had more market share to earn profits. If anyone can pull it off, AMD would be the ones I'd bet on. :sol:

In everyone's opinion and scientific knowledge, what makes a Central Processing Unit better, faster, more efficient, and makes programs run faster at high settings and processing strings?
Hyperthreading and turbo boost have been the key to Intel's performance and low power draw. I think that AMD's halfway there because apparently their power boost is going to be even more effective than Intel's but until they have hyperthreading of their own, they'll always need more cores and higher voltages so Intel will always have the power/performance ratio advantage. Fortunately for AMD, they are much better at pricing their parts. That's why they're not dead yet. :sol:

The last few pages of this thread serve no useful function whatsoever, and allude to no great insight or fact.

Keep going though ... your a constant source of amusement to engineers.

Kinda like cartoons ...

cool, now, we mainly use plutonium but now uranium is our new core, cores i should say, MCm is old

we don't make chezburgers

we go totally natural and fuse cores together using our special core machine that compresses two P4s using a hammer

only a select few will recognize this references, random and couple others

This will enable the use of quantum mechanics in a controlled creation/destruction algorithm that will allow the current to jump across the chip instantaneously and fully processed.
