AMD APU broke? Troubleshooting Help

So I was using the computer this morning and there was a pop and the screen went blank. Tried restarting and the computer will boot through the mobo and Windows splash screens but then goes to being black.

Specs:
Windows 10
AMD A8 (APU)
Asrock mobo (not sure which)
4gb DDR3
500gb HDD
Corsair PSU (430 I think)


I'm thinking the APU went out. Is that possible? Is there a way to check?

I think it's more likely that the PSU blew out.

But it still loads up. Everything lights up and the screen will show the Asrock mobo screen and then windows loading. And all the peripherals are on. If it was a PSU woudln't none of that work?

The rate of CPU failure is actually pretty low. The only way you can test it is to replace your CPU with a known working CPU and see what happens.

I'd lean more towards the HDD or RAM (maybe even the mobo) before I'd consider the CPU.

I don't really ahve replaceable parts for this. My computer runs an intel i5 2500k. At this point I'm thinking about just going with a skylake build and giving them mine. Though I guess if I don't need to buy a CPU it wouldn't be too bad.
