A core 2 and a ati gpu are totaly different. a core 2 is actualy a multi core chip a ati chip is a single core. But in video cards there are only one core GPU show me otherwise. In actuality streaming shader's are processors that in no way makes a video card multi core. phenom and core 2 quad are multi core a video card is a single core with a bunch of mini dedicated SIMD Single instruction multi data processors. has alot more in common with say a network cards processor then a actualy CPU/GPU

Calling a video card multi core or 800 core whatever becuase the object has the word processor in it is idiotic. your analagy doesnt make much sense since a quad core and a true quad core are still 4 cores a radeon 4870 is still a single core. in fact the phenom and the core 2 quad are pefect examples of what a multi core cpu/gpu is. a single core cpu with SIMD instruction processors is still a single core with pipeline tweaks basicly.

So to end show me a video card with more then one core and ill shut up. One thats out now since i never saw a timeline for ati and nvidia on thier multi core gpu's most of it from what i read was just talk at this point other then perhaps intels variation but i have yet to read up on that.
