AMD CPU Upgrade

Is an upgrade from an A8 7650k to an Athlon X4 880K worth? I have an rx 470 and 12 gb of ddr3 1600mhz ram and a stock cooler. The bottlenecks are getting annoying and I wanna upgrade. Is it worth it?

I'm pretty sure those are effectively the same processors underneath. The Athlon has higher clocks, but.. that's about it.

Maybe if you got it for a tenner....

Yeah as Crumpet says, they're basically the same chip. The x4 just has the iGPU disabled. You don't really have any upgrades available on FM2+.

What about an A10 7870K or 7850K

Same as the Athlon X4 860k, just with an integrated GPU. If you need a lot more CPU power, you need to move to a new platform, FM2+ does not offer anything significantly better than what you currently have.
