Yesterday i tried updating my drivers to Crimson ReLive Edition 17.2.1. This resulted in the Error 1603, where there was only partial installation of the driver. I tried using DDU and reinstalling the drivers from a clean install and the same error occurred.

I then found that the recent windows update had been failing to install and the drivers that had failed to install have been added to the windows update, but the windows update is still failing. I get the message "Failure configuring Windows updates. Reverting changes". I have tried running the SFC and DISM, SFC said there were issues but DISM restore wasnt actually running, there was no progress bar or anything. I have also tried running the Windows Update Troubleshooter, no luck there either.

I'm at the point where i'm not sure if the drivers wont install because the windows update won't or if they're separate issues. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The 4 updates that are failing with the windows update are:

  • Advanced Micro Devices - Audio Device - AMD High Definition Audio Device
Advanced Micro Devices, inc. Driver update for AMD Radeon R9 200 Series
Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1607 for x64 based Systems (KB4015438)
Hewlett Packard Printer Driver *This has been failing for months now but hasn't caused issues*
The AMD updates come with the error code 0x8007000d and the Windows 10 update comes with the 0x80070003 error code.

EDIT:
While typing out my problem, the DISM started scanning and hit 100%. However, the source file couldn't be found for some reason so im downloading an ISO file of windows 10 to see if i can get the DISM scan to complete. Will this ultimately fix my issue or should i pursue a different approach?

disable the update from windows for amd and hp go back to a restore point windows update is buged then after this go directly to amd for the crimson and do the same on hp for the printer driver . adding this for win update error https://support.microsoft.com/fr-ca/help/910336/windows-update-error-0x80070002-or-0x80070003 for amd dont know if it will work with win 10 https://support.microsoft.com/fr-ca/help/2230957/error-code-0x8007000d-when-trying-to-activate-a-windows-server-2008-or-windows-7-machine-using-any-type-of-product-key. this related to kb error https://support.microsoft.com/en-ca/help/4015438/windows-10-update-kb4015438

I was trying to look for a way to disable an update, where can i go to do this exactly? And for the restore point, should i go back to a place where it IS bugged or before it is?

Should i go through those links before or after i restore? Sorry for the simple questions i just want to get this right

I have restored back to a point from a few days ago and everything seems to be how it was, thank you.

However, these issues will be a problem again in the future so i will try and fix them with the links you have provided.

I have a program that i used a while ago from tweaking.com which is a windows repair utility, would this be good for fixing any corrupted file and help to complete the windows update?

Sorry i havent been active over the past couple of days and thank you for your help. Tomorrow i will try to repair the windows update. Daily i still get an automatic restart to install the windows update that always results in the update being undone. However, i will try the fix that you have linked in the first answer you gave, i will then move on to installing the other drivers if the windows update goes well. Will give an update on the situation tomorrow. Thanks again.

Ok so i tried the first fix for the windows update. I then tried to update windows again and i was given the following error: 0x8024a105. I then ran the windows update troubleshooter and the update worked but like before i was greeted with "Failure configuring Windows updates. Reverting changes". The final fix recommended was the DISM scan but a source for the scan couldn't be found like before.

So it looks like everything is leading back to missing files and the way to fix this is by running the dism scan but the same problem is occuring, the source file is not found and the following error code is thrown: 0x800f081f.

Use the DDU tool to remove the current driver but before installing the new one, DELETE THE C:\AMD FOLDER Then install the new driver.
