Hello everyone, recently i had a temperature problem with AMD FX-4130. With the stock cooler my core temp was around 48c and my socket temp was 55c in in idle times.
I installed DEEPCOOL Gammaxx 400 and my temps decreased and now I have 37c and 39c for idle times.
Is this normal and safe?

I already did reapply the thermal paste it helped a lot. with new heatsink, on four hours prime95 test "temp1" reached around 60 but "temp2" reached around 92! I'm confused by the "temp2" number. it increases abnormally!

Temp2 might be your CPU Package temp in HWInfo. My computer, a similar CPU but not the same, the AMD A10-5800K, hit 96C in prime95 after 5 minutes. I asked all over Tom'shardware forums, and eventually I came to the conclusion when someone told me that HWInfo doesn't read AMD's sensors right.

I am not sure if that is correct, but looking at your Fintek CPU temp (31C on the left screenshot) that is very good for idle. That is about where I sit with my AMD quad core with a third-party cooler.

Correct me if I am wrong, other tomshardwarers, but I wouldn't worry about those high CPU Package temps. Mine supposedly hit 256C one day, which is bull. Your CPU will shut itself down at around 70C, so I think you have nothing to worry about.

Thanks!

On prime95 stress test although my temp2 reached to 92c, the results showed nothing bad and stated that all of the tests are passed normally. I think i probably shouldn't worry about the Package temp that much.
Nicely explained. Thank you.

You're welcome! Another method you can use is to run Prime95 and actually feel the base of the CPU cooler yourself. You'll know if you are really at 92C, becasue you will get pretty burned, because that's like boiling water temperature. But if it feels just kind of warm, it is probably what it really should be at (your temp1 at 60C) . Looking at your screenshots though, I think your CPU temp you should really watch is your Temp3 in SpeedFan and CPU under the Fintek on the left in HWInfo.

Download AMD Overdrive. It shows your temps in terms of "Overhead" and there you will see how many Celcius you have until overheat. And it's straight from AMD and you can trust those numbers.

In the end, trust what makes sense. With an AMD quad core with a good CPU cooler, 92C would be what you hit it you forgot thermal paste or something. Trust what makes sense, and for me, what I use is the motherboard utilities. Look up your MoBo and download that.

If you are satisfied with my answer, could you please select it as best answer? I'd appreciate it!

Take care!
