Hi,

My Spec
AMD FX 6300
Asus m5a78L-M USB 3.0
8GB RAM Corsair Vengeance
Corsair VS650 PSU
R9 270x GPU
Antec Spec 02 Chassis
Windows 7 64it OS

I've been using the above config for almost a year now without any heating issues. But suddenly for the past week I'm getting a massive increase in core temp speed.

5mins after startup the Core temp shoots upto 80C (being idle with no programmes running). Stays the same for a min and then computer shuts down automatically.

Initially i thought it was dust issue and cleaned everything completely. But the same still continues. GPU,HDD and MB are all running at around 30-40C.

The Chassis comes with a front intake fan and a rear exhaust fan.

Could this be a virus issue? I'm not able to run any antivirus as the PC automatically shuts down i guess because of Core overheating.

Same thing happens even while booting the computer in safe mode.

BIOS Temp also shows the same readings.

Pls help me...! Thanks..!

Got to the "Identify svchost.exe Processes via Process Explorer (easy way)" section in this:

Check if your fan speed changes or if it got locked to a small percentage, this could cause the cpu to overheat as the fan isnt working hard enough.
If that's not the cause i would consider taking out the cooling unit and reapplying thermal grease. If you have the default cooler its preferable to swap it with something like a hyper 212 evo or a raijintek aidos (they will also help you overclock).

Yup. BIOS shows the same temps too and shuts down automatically.

Yes, I am thinking of buying Hyper 212X. Will that fit in a m5a78lm USB 3 mobo?

Also, previously my core's idle temp was around 30-40C. Played Phantom Pain and Witcher 3 without any heating issues. But now the idle temp goes to 80C and PC shuts down.

Meaning the PC turns of completely. I have to press the power button again to start the system.

The temp of my mobo,GPU,HDD are all around 30-40C while being idle.

I don't think it's needed. It's possible what you get is a full board shutdown. Your motherboard has got naked VRM's. Invest in a good top down cooler and that should fix this problem. Either that or a new motherboard, that has a better power delivery and not just 4+1 phase design. Your PSU is pretty good, so I would rule that out, but you never know.

Do you know for sure, the cpu cooler fan is spinning at all? It might be broken?

I've been having this issue only after updating my GPU. It installed a few other softwares along with the driver. Could it have caused this prob?

yes. CPU Fan is running fine

Well,thats wt it showed. 🙁 🙁

But still everytime I turn on the PC i have to terminate the svchost. Is there any permanent solution to it?

Did a virus chk but ntn shows up. Currently using Avast
