Niiiiice! Enjoy the goodness :) is it true AMD trashes Intel in Linux? I've always heard that the reason AMD lags behind Intel in Windows is because Windows and it's applications use Intel compilers... I wondered if that was true.

From what I've seen about compiling and work load speeds posted on linux forums,
I can keep up with the intel chips on compiling or video transcoding under linux.
(based on similar clock speeds and cores/threads)
I don't give too much credence to "benchmarks" as what I do IS what I consider real world, LoL.

Note: for others I'm not going to argue with people re. benchmarks or windows vs linux.
I'm just giving my experience.

i have an fx 8320 at 4.5@1.32v. Voltages are on auto using llc on ultra high on cpu and auto on nb/cpu voltages, but i cant leave auto on cpu/nb voltages because it raises it to 1.45v and its crazy. I have it maxed at 1.275v with offset at 0.1v. I have an m5a97 evo r2 motherboard which is such a good board for price imo.

I know that those are the "default" values or whatever. But I can make mine hit 4600 MHz on as little as 1.125v. And the temps are stable as well, sitting around 30-38 C max.

Hey, i just got my 8320 to 5.02Ghz with a voltage of 1.61 im havent stressed it yet to see if its stable but i now know that it can run at 5Ghz also i have the H100 liquid cooling, and have also got mine to 4.8ghz stable

I doubt a h100i could keep temps under control at that voltage and as s4in7 said that's not a safe voltage to be running in the first place.
I would be running HWinfo to see if its running 100% stable since it can log max, mins and averages for clocks, temps, voltages and what not.
Would be interesting to see a screenshot of it running like that under p95 load.

Hello
These are my specs

AMD FX 8320
ASROCK 970 extreme 4 rev2
8gb kingston hyperx actually 1333mhz
1tb 6gb/s HDD
asus gtx 760 oc directcuII
Aerocool V3X Advance
Cooler Master Hyper TX3 EVO
Corsair CX500M modular

Since I built this I've been having Bottlenecks.
Playing Bf4 when CPU was getting the max temp, BEFORE thermal throttling, Ultra settings 60 stable fps dropping to 30 for about 5 seconds then getting stable again.
This was annoying me... so I started monitoring Temps/Usages of Cpu / Gpu / Ram all kind of components.
Then I had a great sight when I was monitoring with AsRock Extreme Tuner, things are about patterns.
The pattern of the fps droppage was the same as the x7-x20 multiplier in the AsRock Extreme Tuner.
So I figured out that the bottleneck was being originated by the CPU.
What did I do to cut off that annoying bottlenecks?
1- UEFIO BIOS
2- OC mode manual
3- TurboCore Disabled
4- Manually set the CPU multiplier to 3,6ghz
5- Manually set the VCore to 1.375
6- Advanced > CPU NB config > Cool n Quiet / Thermal Throttling both DISABLED

Save and Exit

This is the way that I solved the bottlenecks. Stable performance at 3,6ghz / x18 cpu multiplier / 1,375 vcore / max temp on idle 38º-40º - gaming 50º-55º

I will be glad to see your opinions! and hope this will help somebody!

you mentioned good motherboard and great cooling, just wanna know which one would you recommend to maximize this chip? thanks.....

I have mine at 4.8ghz using a cm hyper 212 evo. The reason you are blue screening is bc the voltage isn't high enough if you want to hit at least 4.5ghz crank the voltage to around 1.44v. I don't recommend going all the way to 4.8ghz there hasn't really been any gaming performance increase past like 4.5 or 4.7ghz. But maybe on some program loading times it is faster but that's up to you and it is cool to be able to brag to people that you almost have a 5ghz cpu.

thanks for your answer, but it is possible to hit 5.0 ghz?

I get 4.7ghz with my Corsair h100i and stock fans. If I go any higher than that it's extremely unstable, but at 4.7 it's fine.

At 4.7 I use 1.35v, and it doesn't get very hot (about 45°C) when I play games like Skyrim for several hours. Mobo is an Asus M5A99FX pro r2.0.
