AMD fx 8320 vs Intel i5 4440 for gaming

Because I am not a fanboy like you.

But you're being an AMD fanboy because you're disregarding results that disprove your chosen processor is better :/
And overclocking requires spending even more money on cooling so the intel wins out on the price point as well.

Actually no. I myself wish I had an i5 now. I could not afford one and I can't overclock my 8320. Never said my processor was better, and it's not. And yes I agree with you on that, it might end up more expensive on cooling. I just think both processor have its own potential. The FX series is pretty decent in the latest games, with the use of all the cores. Sorry to sound stupid, or ignorant. I'm still learning a fair bit.
And seen from OTHER benchmarks, the FX processors aren't too far behind the i5's.

You're right they do both have their own potential, but it's very difficult to get the fx8000 series to shine without a specialized program. So unless you're specifically using the specialized programs it's just smarter to go with an intel.

That's why I wanted an Intel. Unfortunately, I live in Australia and all the i5's are no lower than $250, when I bought my parts. My next PC build will hopefully have an i7 with a currently high end card.
However, I'm pretty satisfied with my 8320. Was not a bad choice. Well ... My case and motherboard was 🙁

I feel like AMD has the most passion for what games should be myself..

If the op lists some games then this can be answered pretty easily.

If someone wants to play the ubisoft games then hook them up with a Intel cpu and a Nvidia gpu.

If someone is a Battlefield fanatic then get them a AMD cpu and gpu.

...and why not an I5 + amd cpu?

As for calling me out on being a fanboy, it's pretty funny that my statements are based on the first 3 pages of googling I5 4699k, I7 4790k and fx 8350 that completely underline what I say. Guess those must all be wrong, making me spread misinformation towards one companies favour, making me a fanboy. Not like you, basing statements on either nothing or the chance that all benchmarks are fake, totally objective.

Amd cpu's are incredibly great as a choice for professional work when your budget is short right the moment you buy and not care about electricity costs adding up quickly. But for gaming, they had a difficult position against sandy bridge, but have absolutely none right now. There is absolutely no case where getting an amd cpu makes sense for gaming right now. Fx 4300? Pentium G! Fx 6300? I3 4130! Fx 8350? I5 4460! All being as cheap as or cheaper and performing better. While the exact same can be said the other way round when it comes to working station on a <$300 budget for cpu and motherboard.

if you have a good video card, what difference it would make ? i5 vs 8320

As you all say the i5 has better benchmarks on games ... but playing the game what difference it would make ? 8320 would have lags or fps drops that compromise the game play , would have problems playing on ultra or high : ?

Thanks

Sorry if you have misunderstood or I mistyped. At first (long time ago) I was talking about general performace, not gaming wise (at least not old games with poor thread support).

3.
Looking at benchmarks, Battlefield doesn't run any better on AMD than it does on Intel/Nvidia.

4.
Comparing AMD GPU's to Nvidia is actually not right, simply because Nvidia doesn't like to play fair.

5.
Remember that the FX line is very old now. When was the first processor released like in 2012? Intel's Haswell chips are still very new and have improved and developed technologies and architecture.

I apologize if I made any incorrect statements or ignorant beliefs. No one can possibly be 100% correct on what they are saying. I try my best to learn as much as I can to hopefully find myself in an IT career.

Anyways, Have a good day :)

The i5 will perform better if you have a really good graphics card. The only real factors that can difference the performance of the two are bottlenecks, optimization, thread support, overclocks.

Well aparently Nvidia does contracts with game developers for them not to share some sort of code with any other company, so AMD's optimization is very poor. I actually don't know exactly what happens, but FerretBomb told me this (he is a streamer and IT professional).

.. So your stating something as fact when you dont actually know what happens, just heard rumors...

The stuff you are talking about I presume is gameworks, where they help the game dev optimize the game for their cards. Thats just clever strategy by nvidia.

What about AMD with Mantle, which only works with their GPUS? Sure its supposedly "open" but it currently only works with GCN. Would that be "playing fair" then?

Its business at the end of the day, and these companies will do what they can to sell their products and be successful.

That's not what happens, but instead game development studios and gpu companies share knowledge. More code reuse = less potential for errors = quicker development = less costs & more profit. Better access to hardware = more efficient = enables more complex and visually appealing graphics = better game. And gets both companies (whatever game studio and gpu comp) their fair share of marketing and therefore profit. Whenever you buy a high end gpu, you're almost guaranteed to get rebate on a new game whose development studio worked together with the respective company. Just as you can find nvidia/amd logos on most well known games.

This happens on both sides, by the way and sometimes coherently produces great advantages of one companies products over the other's. (PhysX/Mantle/Cuda/OpenGl).

And how has nvidia not played fair? Just by helping the dev make the game work on their hardware?

He said Nvidia pays game developers to optimize the game for them better (or prevent AMD from getting good optimization for their hardware). Something like that is what I heard. And yes this isn't a fact it's just something that was told to me. If you want to find out more do some research I really don't have the time.

Then please don't post rumor as fact. It doesnt help anyone.
