AMD FX 8320e Overclocking Help

Hey guys,
I have an AMD FX 8320e and I would like some help with overclocking it.
For the most part there are not really that many sources online about the 8230e, so it makes it a bit harder to find out specific numbers. So I have a few questions.

Can my chip go to 4.0? If so, what numbers should I set where?
If it isn't possible for the chip to go that high, what would the suggested speed be?
This is also the first chip I have ever overclocked, so I'm not 100% sure about what I'm doing :p

Go into BIOS, disable Turbo Mode, and raise the CPU's clock multiplier one click at a time. Reboot, run a stress pgm like Intel Burn Test for its default 10 run pass and see if it is stable. Repeat. When you get an unstable result, increase the CPU VID (vcore) a tiny bit to make it stable again. Always keep an eye on core temps when working up an OC.

Every chip's results will vary.

I just overclocked this processor over the weekend on a GA-990FXA-UD3. Got it to 4.2 with the multiplier at 21.0. Had to raise the voltage to 1.3125, but it was stable at 18.0 (3.6 GHz) on stock voltage. Max temp under load was 56, but I'm running on air.

Sounds good. I had a heck of a time getting my FX-8350 to 4.6 GHz. Had it at 4.7, but it proved to be unstable and I didn't want to take the voltage up any more.

That thermal limit is pretty common. The FX-8xxx processor is a furnace. I had throttling at 4.6 GHz until I did some tweaking in BIOS. Several "cores" would drop back to 14xx MHz. I wish I'd have kept notes so I could repeat it if it happens again.

hey guys i got around to installing my h105 cooler and with extensive messing around i got my fx-8320e to 4.5ghz stable
4515.06mhz core speed
multiplier x 22.5 (7- 22.5)
bus speed 200.67mhz
core voltage 1.476
ht link 2207.36
on a wide open stress test with prime 95 running im seeing a maximum of 56c turbo is currently turned off
and idle is 39c

hi there just thought id share as well got my 8320e at 4.7 ghz at 1.5 volts do to my msi 970 gaming board it jumps up to 1.55 for a split second but gos back to 1.5 volts im using an h105 as well the issue is lack of llc holds it back from 4.8, i can boot and do web and what not at 5 ghz but no stress test at all will pass everything until it hits the cpu after about a minute system hard freezes

Running an fx 8320e with an R1 Ultimate twin tower air cooler (pretty much the best air cooler you can buy at the moment) and the max I can get it stable is 4.6ghz (offset the vcore +0.300V) using high llc. Medium llc is usually recommended as it's less 'spikey' with the voltage but I found I would drop a worker in prime using medium and is rock solid on high llc. Since I can't bump the voltage up to +0.325v without it going fukashima with the temps I leave it at high.

Using a gigabyte 990fxa-ud3 mainboard with an aftermarket vrm heatsink (since it's a rev 1.1 board). For reference, the R1 Ultimate on max (1400rpms) cools just slightly better than liquid cooler H100i on max (and is vastly quieter).

I can get 4.7ghz with +0.300V but it's a crapshoot with stability at that speed (sometimes it will run an hour+ no errors in prime, next day a worker will drop within minutes). It is stable at 4.7ghz at +0.325V but the core temps can rocket up to 67-68+ and that's where I stop it. Adjusting the llc level at +0.325 makes no difference to the heat monster.

Stock: 3.2Ghz,
Vcore (llc medium): Min 1.120v, max 1.136v
Idle 9c
Max under load 24.9

4.6ghz (+0.300v)
Vcore (llc high): Min 1.424v, max 1.504
Ide 18.5
Max under load 62.9

You shouldn't let it go over 62 (mine spiked at 62.9- prime95 small fft tends to reach max temp really quick when started then throttles off, mine only stayed at 62.9 for around 3-4 seconds then became more reasonable).

Max SAFE temps for 8320e are 62 core (package) and 70 socket (what the mainboard says is the cpu). Those are continual operation numbers. If it spikes a little above these numbers don't freak out as long as it's not continually going above these numbers and not dropping workers in prime, freezing or rebooting then you're good.

1.5v is max I would ever go on vcore for a FX-8xxx CPU. Some folks go higher, but I like to stay at or below what AMD has set for their recommended max. My FX-8350 was stable at 4.7GHz @ 1.4175v (Asrock 990X Extreme6 board)
