I have an AMD fx 8350 with a gigabyte ga78lmt and my computer will freeze randomly and play horrible audio and I have to press the reset button on my tower to get it to work again. When it freezes no input from any of my devices works. How can I fix this? Windows 7 btw

Solution
It's probably due to your motherboard, it's to put it mildly a cheap budget motherboard. Your processor is listed on the support list but the motherboard only has a 3+1vrm to power a very power hungry IC (125w+) so it's more than likely a power delivery problem. You could try to underclock the CPU in the bios to see if it solves the problem.

That happens to me when my video card is overclocked too high and locks up.

What is your GPU? are you overclocking it?

If you've done this very much you should also run a check disk and let it REPAIR defects.

So you're using onboard graphics....

I'd wait until the GPU comes to worry this one. I would suggest making sure drivers are updated but that can be a problem of it's own when you get the GPU since you have to clean out the old drivers very carefully. If you don't, these are the very types of problems you can expect.

In fact, it would be a great time to do a complete fresh install of Windows when you put that GPU in. This assumes you're building a system so it's not gonna be much of a bother to do so since it's already a 'fresh' install.

Your PSU is of very questionable quality and could be contributing to your stability issues. Those issues will likely get worse once you install a video card, as well, if this is a power issue (as I suspect).

My power supply actually says 600w max and my PC only freezes when I do things that are resource intensive. I don't think it's overheating it has fresh thermal paste and doesn't get very hot when I check, nothing over 55 c. I've disabled CPU power boost and underclocked my CPU so I highly highly doubt it's my power supply. I never had problems with it when i had my old parts.

My memory has never given me problems before so I don't think it's that. I will be getting a new motherboard and probably PSU I guess and if that doesn't work I'll make another thread or something

FX 8350 does not have onboard graphics, so hes using SOMETHING to output somewhere.

OP The GA78-LMT is the wrong motherboard to be using with an 8350, period. I don't care what your temps are, the VRMS aren't providing enough power which is the source of your instability.

Add on to that a questionable PSU and this system will never be stable.

Get a good 970 Motherboard to start, then replace that PSU its junk too.

Don't a couple versions of this one have garbagey HD 3000 graphics?

GA78LMT using 760G chipset the graphics is in the chipset.

You're right I forgot about that. Still 100% wrong board to be using an 8350 on, that 3+1 power phase can barely power a digital watch let alone an 8 core CPU.
