AMD-FX 8350 low core speed.

Hello everyone, my problem is my core speed, it's 1400MHz ALLTHETIME ._.
I'm trying to stress it with prime95 but it doesn't change it's always 1400MHz

I've tried to overclock it from 4,0GHz to 4,4GHz but nothing has changed..
Where's the problem, should I change something on BIOS?

for 4.4 you shouldnt need over 1.36v also you dont need an extreme llc change it to high

I would try updating the bios may be an old revision not supporting you cpu from what it seems

make sure to disable the two other options before the voltage control i forget what it is called for some reason i will find that for you


still seems like the bios is not detecting the cpu correctly

you can leave spread spectrum for the cpu on i would disable it on the pci there is also another option for vrm spread specrum which should be disabled, also.

hmm hats good to know, i run virtual box and havent noticed that issue but that low of a speed points to the motherboard and bios most likely, i would think even with the virtual options selected in the bios it would just default to the base clock and hold it there and not at a super slow speed.

Ill have to check this on my laptop that runs virtual box

I don't have windows 8-8.1, My bios is from 4-17-2014 so it's not old 😛

ok, so, we've narrowed one item down.

The next best thing to try would be to reset your bios settings to default and boot it up to see if anything changes. If you've already tried this, sorry. you haven't mentioned it.

If it operates at standard clocks with default bios settings, then it is a bios setting that is causing the problem, and we can troubleshoot from there.

If it does not, then it is something else, and we'll go from there.

That's an issue with Hyper-V, not Virtualbox. I like Virtualbox. It works well. What MS did to Hyper-V in the latest version is bad.

check your bios and make sure it is detecting the cpu as the correct one.

Funny enough, that if it doesn't matter if I clock it to 4,4GHz or it is on 4,0GHz stocks, the core speed is 24/7 same 😀

That's not what I meant. I meant do a complete reset of all bios settings to default and boot it up. Edit nothing until you boot and test first. (Unless you're using a raid, and in that case, just make sure to change the storage config to raid mode, and leave everything else alone.)

Use the AMD Catalyst Control software, you can actually use it to get increase the minimum clock speed possible.

with turbo disabled it should be fixed at his speed all the time which it isnt doing.


I would contact asus and see what they say.

there might be an issue with your board

still load optimized defaults and see if turbo is working correctly etc.

if its still stuck on 1400 i would call them
