AMD FX 8350 or i7 3770k

Hey guys im building my new RIG and i need to know what is the best CPU for gaming the i7 3770k looks realy good but the AMD FX 8350 also looks good will the AMD FX 8350 benefit from having 8 cores in gaming also will it benefit better for games as they become optimised for PS4 and XBOX 720 as they have 8 cores ???

The i7 will be faster now, possibly the FX may be faster in the future with condole ports but thats a ways off and I honestly have no idea how it will actually turn out. That being said both are honestly overkill for gaming right now. A 6300 or i5 3750 is plenty for current games and will continue to be so for quite some time.


The FX8350 gives you 90% of the performance (generally) of the 3770k for 50% of the money. In some cases it's even better than the 3770k (Crysis 3 for example and Ripping DVDs as well, rendering, encoding, etc.)

I think you might want to grab the 3570K since it has the same performance as the 3770K when it comes to gaming. If you want future proofing then you might as well grab yourself the 3930K and a Maximus IV Formula and go from there or P9X79 Deluxe. That type of a rig should last 5-6 years.
