aywun 650 elite
amd fx 6100

Thanks

Hard choice i must say - you have already got a motherboard for the 8320, so no real benefit of not going amd again other than better single core performance.

If affordable, the 4690 will be better. You say you mostly do gaming, so the 4690 has a benefit there, most games are very bad at using 4+ cores, or even 2+ cores. Thats where the i5 shines - its single core performance. The 8320 is better at multithreading though, and might be better at something as streaming. I would say - If you only care about gaming performance, and upgrading cpu is the only choice instead of gpu, go for the i5.

I'd definitely go intel in your situation.

You have a low end AMD CPU and motherboard. IMO, no point dumping more money into that hole. A piledriver (x3xx) CPU could net you around a 15% performance increase. However, that's still less than intel would give you. To reach a low-end i5's levels you'd need to heavily overclock the AMD, which isn't possible on that motherboard, so you'd have to get a new one and a good aftermarket CPU cooler. As you can see, the cost just isn't worth it.

Intel outperforms AMD in gaming 99.9% of the time.

What's your budget for this upgrade?
