Hi, I've got this problem with my rig. I Assembled my First PC. I disassemble and re-assemble many PCs before but it's my first time buying/choosing the parts.
Here are the parts used for my rig:
- ASRock 970 Extreme4
- AMD FX 8350 (8 cores @ 4GHz) with stock cooler
- G.Skill Ripjaws - 8 GB : (2 x 4 GB) - DIMM 240 pins - DDR3
- 1 x SAPPHIRE 4GB Radeon R9 270X
- Gaming Power Netzteil 780W PSU (not yet delivered so for the test that got me my problem I used a 520W corsair PSU)
- Akasa Cavalry ATX PC case.
-2 HDD : 500GB + 1TB (none of them were connected since I needed enough power to turn on the PC).
THE PROBLEM:
when I boot my PC it automatically goes to the BIOS (maybe because no hdd is found or something else..). I can from the BIOS monitor the CPU temp, Motherboard temp, CPU fan rpm and if available Case fans rpm.
(Values may vary a bit from boot to boot!!!)
Outside of the PC case
what I get (first 20secs):
CPU temp @ to 40°C
Motherboard temp @ to 33°C
CPU fan speed @ 4100+ rpm (I don't recall).
After nearly 5min:
CPU temp @ 56°C
Mobo temp @ 45°C
CPU fan speed @ 4909+ rpm.
At that point the CPU fan makes a loud high pitched sound (as a turbojet engine before the plane take off or a vacuum cleaner sound if you will) which worries me (I think the fan's motor gonna burn out) so I shut the computer down.
Inside the PC case:
the first 20 secs
CPU temp @ 38°C
Mobo temp @ 30°C
CPU speed @ 4140 rpm
after 5min:
CPU temp @ 55.5°C
Mobo temp @ 37°C
CPU speed @ 5601 rpm
same scary sound -> I shut down!
(I didn't take PC case rpm since their sound level was close to that of fridge)
MY QUESTIONS:
-Should I change my cooling system?
-If I should, can I use a AM3+ compatible mini-ITX cooling system (i.e low profile) like EKL Alpenföhn Silvretta, Zalman CNPS2X or Thermalright AXP-100.
-Can I use a non-top-down blowing cooling system? (ASRock stresses me to use a top-down blowing system for FX- processors)
-Does the PSU power affect CPU temp?
BEFORE ANSWERING:
-I would like you to take in consideration that those are boot/BIOS temperatures no OS, Gaming or Average to High Computing temperatures
-I won't overclock
Thank you in advance!
