AMD FX-8350 temperatures!!

Hey there, i'm using a corsair hydro h70 with 2 fans on each side and idle temps are at 44, this seems a little high, anyone give me some advice on whether this is normal or not?

i was just letting prime run wasnt looking at temps cause i thought the h70 would be able to handle whatever prime threw at it, turns out it shutdown.

i did it again and the temps rose to 62 pretty quick, i stopped the test because i didnt want to damage the cpu

No, the H70 is more than enough to cool an 8350 at stock.

OP, get thermal paste (Arctic Cooling MX-4 is my preferred paste), remove the heatsink, clean the heatsink and processor's IHS (the metal on top) with isopropyl alcohol and a lint-free cloth/rag/etc., apply a dot to the center of the IHS (pic at the bottom), and reseat the heatsink.

I have an h80i and a 8350 with stock fans in push pull exhaust, I'm idling at 30 degrees at 4.8ghz in pretty much idle, may be worth pointing out it's not exactly 4.8, you may need to clean off the paste and reseat it. If you want i'll change it to pull only and run prime and post my temps.

Edit: On prime, i get about 60 degrees, stops at about 63.6 on balanced mode, (2000rpm)

forgot to add, when I'm idling I run in quiet mode, so idle 1200 rpm 30 degrees, 2000 rpm on prime at 4.8ghz 63 degrees, let's say 64

Second edit: I'm not an experienced oc'er either, I only changed voltages and multiplier and turned off what needed to be etc, and with some tinkering I could probably lower temps and etc.

Who says he will not want to overclock at some time in the future. By the way the guy has to tell us what his cpu voltage is set at. he should also state what his VID is for the chip. CPUZID will tell him VID

I believe he means, that you have installed both the fans blowing in the same direction.

Also, did you try re seating the cpu block?
If one side is tightened more than the other, then the base of the cooler doesn't make good contact with the cpu IHS.

I ran the AIDA64 stability test, in 10 mins the cpu temps hit 61c before i stopped the test. Core temps hit a maximum of 50. I know this is a load that is unlikely in real-world applications and games but just to be safe and not cause any damage to my cpu I'd like to achieve temps below what AMD state (62c max with a stock cooler) so with a water cooler I think these temps are way too high. If I had let that run overnight, in the morning my cpu would have fried or the computer would have shut down.

Any advice on what I can do to lower the temperatures?

yea I don't think fans are the problems because I doubt corsair would send me really shit fans with their radiator.
my cpu temps hit 61 pretty quick but core temps only hit 50, with research i found that cpu temp actually means socket temp, with this being said does whats the max temperature the am3+ socket can handle?
since core temps are the actual cpu, which amd recommends not go over 62, i'm well in the safe zone, or are my temps still high??

The max safe core/package temp is 62C & Cpu/socket temp is 72C

At stock settings with a H70, 50c @ 100% load is high, unless your ambient temp is 28~30C

Download IBT AVX, do 10 runs @ standard & monitor your core/package temps.
Post a full screenshot of hwmonitor & Cpu-z here when your test completes. :)

Also keep in mind temps are going to be higher on a fresh thermal compound install than they will be after the compound has a few days to cure, and immediate OCing and running under load this soon after install will have a slightly negative effect of the long term properties of the compound.

A 3C decrease is the max you will see after the thermal paste cures, and not really gonna hurt anything.

I ran the AIDA 64 stability test which pins the system at 100%, I'd post a screenshot if I knew how to on here, don't see any icon to add a file or anything cause when I click add picture it asks me to put a URL in. Anyways, the socket idles at 31 and maxed at 64. The cores idled at 13 and maxed at 54, they kept getting cooled down a few degrees so they averaged at around 51. I ran the test for 1 hour and 30 mins. I'll get round to doing the other test later aswell and then post the results here.

I don't think its the thermal paste btw

I actually have the H100i on a push-pull configuration and my core temps never go higher than 29-30C. I understand the radiated is double the size but it shouldn't cause a 20C difference I don't think. Your core idle temp makes it seem like its all seated well though as its actually similar to mine. I get about 9-10 on idle. Don't worry too much about socket temp. Once you hit that 60+ core temps, your computer is going to start throwing every problem you're way.

If everything is stock and bios is left untouched with voltage untouched, you should have a lower full load temp. As someone stated, make sure your fans are in the correct position. If you're pull/pull, that could account for why the temps are so high on full load as it has nowhere to escape.
